25th Amendment. Go read it now.

I did read it. I even posted a link to the text of it. There are 4 articles in it:

1. If the President dies or resigns from office the Vice President becomes President

2. If the VP office is vacant, Congress (both houses) votes on a replacement to fill that office.

3. If the President is unable to do his duties he notifies the Senate in writing and the VP takes office as President. If he regains capacity to fulfill his duties, the President notifies the Senate a second time and the VP steps down and the President takes over the office again.

4. The VP and the President's cabinet in agreement in majority can notify Congress that the President is unable to fulfill his duties and if Congress agrees, the VP takes the office of President. From there, it works like article 3. The President can show in writing he is capable of resuming his duties, he resumes them. If there is a dispute by the President about the VP's and his cabinet's action, Congress will convene and take a vote on the matter. A two-thirds vote in each house removes the President and the VP becomes President.

So you understand that presidents ,like Reagan when he got shot, wrote a note saying the VP will take over until I get better. Even Trump can handle that.
