think about why ordinary people use it, pictures of their dogs/kids/fannys had a good time at some restaurant, some meme, birthday greetings.
why would pols get involved in that ?
because the algorhythmns were always there and coaxing people to see things, perhaps to do things.
businesses have been figuring out ways to influence behaviors forever (I used to work for Coca-Cola and you would not believe how good they were at it). if it sells sugar water you can imagine how pols would love to leverage that capability.

Here at JPP we have talked about computer bots and their usage quite a bit. Hell,....many of us here even accuse others we do not agree with of actually BEING bots!
But what if it isnt about a left or right wing agenda at all? What if it is about spreading division and HATE to keep people separated so they never come together and engage the true enemy?
What are the main issues that tend to separate and divide people? Just to name a few I would say in no particular order.....
Politics
Economic status
Race
Religion
So, what if the bots MAIN purpose was to antagonize people,....keep them divided, destroy any and all attempts at speaking to each other in tones that encourage cooperation and harmony. What if the Bots main purpose had NOTHING to do whatsoever with a right wing or left wing ideology but instead to keep the masses fighting among each other?
WHY would anyone do this? Control....TOTAL CONTROL. If you keep everyone separated in small groups and little subgroups they are much easier to defeat. But if Humanity was more of a united front then the powers that be are done for. People think that it is about R and L when the real truth is it is much more about stopping Stone from talking to say Althea or someone else because we would very quickly find out we had MUCH more in common than not. When the WWW was new those types of conversations were happening ALL THE TIME. The so called rulers of this world saw that and wanted it ended as soon as possible because the knew it was dangerous to them and their agenda.

On July 13, 2018, a federal grand jury sitting in the District of Columbia returned an indictment against 12 Russian military intelligence officers for their alleged roles in interfering with the 2016 United States (U.S.) elections. The indictment charges 11 defendants, Boris Alekseyevich Antonov, Dmitriy Sergeyevich Badin, Nikolay Yuryevich Kozachek, Aleksey Viktorovich Lukashev, Artem Andreyevich Malyshev, Sergey Aleksandrovich Morgachev, Aleksandr Vladimirovich Osadchuk, Aleksey Aleksandrovich Potemkin, Ivan Sergeyevich Yermakov, Pavel Vyacheslavovich Yershov, and Viktor Borisovich Netyksho, with a computer hacking conspiracy involving gaining unauthorized access into the computers of U.S. persons and entities involved in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, stealing documents from those computers, and staging releases of the stolen documents to interfere with the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The indictment also charges these defendants with aggravated identity theft, false registration of a domain name, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Two defendants, Aleksandr Vladimirovich Osadchuk and Anatoliy Sergeyevich Kovalev, are charged with a separate conspiracy to commit computer crimes, relating to hacking into the computers of U.S. persons and entities responsible for the administration of 2016 U.S. elections, such as state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and U.S. companies that supplied software and other technology related to the administration of U.S. elections.
