What is an invasion?

I just went to Dictionary.com, and found this:

noun
1 an act or instance of invading or entering as an enemy, especially by an army.

2 the entrance or advent of anything troublesome or harmful, as disease.

3 entrance as if to take possession or overrun

4 infringement by intrusion.

Does anybody see any items in the definition of invasion that apply to the political landscape?
 
Are you implying that we are not facing a "national emergency?"

It was, and still is, a political tool, immigration has been Trump's major "issue" since he descended the escalator, plays well with the base, and creates umpteen potential conspiracies for the demogogues

Well, don't think we are being "invaded" by an "enemy" nor an "army," nor anything close to a "disease." Nobody is trying to "take possession" of the country, and as far as I know, no one has "intruded" into the country yet, so what else could you be implying that the "national emergency" claim was bogus from the jump?

Well, maybe we should compare our current political landscape to the definition. Let's start with item number 1: "#1: an act or instance of invading or entering as an enemy, especially by an army." is there anybody attempting to, enter, or entering our country as an enemy or as an army? I guess we would have to look for any groups of people who plan on entering without our blessings, and then check to see if they are carrying our flag or some other country's flag.

Ok, let's look at item number 2: "The entrance or advent of anything troublesome or harmful, as disease."
Is there anything harmful or carrying a disease trying to or entering the country? Are there people who entering or attempting to enter our country who wish to break our immigration laws, or to take advantage of the taxpaying citizens of our country in any way?

Are there any mobs of people who wish to overwhelm our border and bypass our immigration laws?

4 infringement by intrusion.

I guess we need to look up intrusion. Are there people who are wrongfully entering?

Your reply does no demonstrate that you have objectively applied each of the the four items in the definition to our political landscape as I did in post 5. "The US is not being invaded" is simply a politically motivated emotional assertion like a dog barking at something he does not like. Can you post something intelligent?

So any number of people who are entering the country without "our blessing" amounts to an invasion of our country? If ten kids sneak into a ball game are they invading that baseball game?

Is there any proof that these people are carrying diseases? And groups of people breaking a law doesn't amount to an invasion, and it is even more preposterous to claim that those same people are going to take over the country. If that is what you consider an invasion and "national emergency" hate to see what happens when something really threatening strikes the Nation

I compared this question to the definition provide in the opening post. I do not see anywhere were there is a specific number of invaders needed for an invasion to qualify as an invasion. The ten baseball game invaders seem to fit the difinition as provided in the opening post.

Who claimed anybody was taking over the country? Who has claimed anything at all?

This thread is about the definition of "invasion". Are you saying that if people cross our borders and it is unfriendly, that these people would fit some of the items in the definition of invasion that was provided in the opening post?

That was very poorly written. Mine however was quite clear. The Central Americans have a right to apply for asylum though. I am sure you are for that law biding act to proceed.

This thread is about the definition of "invasion". Who are you saying matches up with the definition of invasion that was provided in the opening post? You are responding to the opening post, right?
 
I suppose you can argue that Mexico was invaded. But if they are passing through, it is just a migration. However many of them have decided to stay in Mexico.
