What is Democracy?

We hear leftists toss around terms all the time and besides fascist, when referring to Trump, they love crying about democracy. They champion themselves as the defenders of democracy but their presidential candidate in the last election wasn't chosen by any democratic means. They referred to Trump for years as an "existential threat to democracy" even though on two occasions he was duly elected through a democratic process. So all this leads to wonder do leftists actually hate democracy or do they just not know what democracy is? So what is democracy?

Why are none of the supposed democracy loving leftists here defending and celebrating the democracy they claim to hold so dear?

It's disappointing that not a single democracy loving leftists can tell us what democracy is. How could you possibly claim trump is an "existential threat to democracy" if you don't even know what democracy is? Maybe disappointing wasn't the right word to use there, but unsurprising is more fitting.
