I have the impression that Rabbinic Judaism in practice is substantially different from the sacrificial Hebrew religion of the Second Temple period; so different it's hard to compare them.

I think there are substantial overlap between the Axial Age religions that emerged in the first Millennium BCE, and they represented a pivot point in human values and human ethos.
