What is woke about the lil mermaid?

You sound like a racist who just parrots things you heard on Fox.

The overwhelming majority of actors in the film are white. I do not agree with you that black actors should be barred from working on reboots of Disney classics.

Racist, yes, but in Tink's case, and a few others on JPP, I think the primary motivation is fear; fear of being pushed out, fear that the nostalgic* memories of her life in the 1950s and 1960s are gone.

*nostalgia is notoriously distorted. Any sane person who remembers Duck'n'Cover drills and Vietnam does not want to return to those days.

Ok. What does that have to do with who portrays mlk? How does an actors skin color prevent them from portraying a historical figure?

When it is part of the story it matters for realism. People like to feel historical movies are realistic.

You can’t make a realistic mermaid movie.

It’s the same reason George Wallace could not be played by a black man.

Race is essential to the story of Roots, it’s not essential to the story of the Little Mermaid, are you this dense?

Slaves in the American South were African descent, mermaids can be anything we imagine them to be, they are imaginary!

everything is about race and power. that's critical theory 101.

are you a reactionary?

Disney is out to make money. If they believe they can make more with one actress over another they will do it.

this is a good example of the other way that liberals will lose...........looking at reality and coming up with a whole other viewpoint on it that is patently false..........

It's unfortunate that deep into the 21st century, MAGAs are hollering that the level of melanin in someone's skin should determine if they get to play a mermaid in a film.

My wife and I saw the film last week, and it didn't even occur to us that people could be outraged by a black mermaid

My point is that there is no connection to race in the little mermaid story so it does not matter what race plays the part of the little mermaid. Even though you MAGA’s are wetting your pants over it.

You don’t believe Disney, a publicly traded company, has an interest in making money?

Im saying there is a connection to race.

its it in the subtext, and what's unshown.

everything is about race and power.

The basis for all leftist ideology, feelings. What's amazing is only the feelings of leftists ever seen to matter.

So beyond feelings you have no valid argument against tom cruise playing Malcolm x

While you wet yours because people comment on it

Are you having feelings because Disney depicted the little mermaid as dark skinned?
