I'll join in too! Boy I hate mankind, we are the enemy!

Sometimes I reflect on how on earth the compassionate ideology of the left in the 20th century could have resulted in so many tens of millions of deaths. Then you see posts like this and remember how they really see man...

So you think its a point of view issue?

Look at the massive volume of pollution we create, the number of our own kind that we kill, the massive amount of abuse & neglect that we inflict on our fellow man.

If you think that just a "point of view" issue you are either a fool or in complete denial.

There is almost nothing that threatens us more than we do. Our own weapons can now wipre out virtually all life on the planet.

You think this is just some liberal's view of man? lol truly sad

Choose your words more carefully, 'Neglect' has never killed off any species, nor even reduced it on any scale. The worst pollution is arguably in China or India, the world's 2 most populous countries, it is a negative of course but kills off all or even reduces the population? Nope.

No they can wipe out life on select countries, is anyone pointing nukes at South America for instance?
More importantly, your operative word here is "can". In reality countries with nuclear weapons have engaged in less bloodshed as pscyhotic or warlike leaders when it comes to it, realize that for the first time in history, the weapons can kill them too.

Not quite, I think it's traditionally a leftwing point of view founded on a distrust of mankind. I've seen you sadly move more to their side of that opinion. I'd hope you turn back because this is nothing but an ideology that would undermine any freedoms it deems it needs to based on the notion that man cannot be trusted with them.
You must have noticed this yourself, whether it's guns or education or healthcare or retirement, the left believes that man cannot be trusted to provide or fend for themselves without government oversight, restrictions or guiding.

It's not that I don't trust them individually, Dano. It's that collectively they make very obviously bad choices.

I've actually heard conservatives argue before that everyone should be given nuclear weapons, and that it will end war because of MAD.

I am amazed we allow these psychopaths into power.

And yet with government oversight/responsibility on education, healthcare and retirement, you are supporting making collective judgements for them. Formerly they were individual choices and responsibilities.

If that's really how you feel, why don't you come over to the right side Water?

I chose my words carefully. Neglect has not killed off any species as of yet. But it has been the demise of more than a few people. It is part & parcel of the what I mean when I saw "we are our own worst enemy".

You are correct when you said that India & China are the worst polluters. But they are relative newcomers in the industrial game. Mankind has been around for +/- 50,000 years. But the serious damages we have done have been profound. They have also been relatively recent.

If you look at the length of time modern pollutatnts are lethal, we are creating more and more poison that we will have to store for decades, even centuries. We have never even managed to come up with a plan for that.

If you look at the poisons that we have put into our water supply in just the last 100 years, you will see a growing trend towards being a serious danger to ourselves.

The fact that we can wipe out pretty much all life on the planet is an established fact. If a significant portion of our nuclear arsenals are used, it doesn't matter whether they were aimed at South America or not, the fallout and damage would kill life there as well.

I do not trust mankind. I was not taught this by liberals. I was taught this by studying history.

Come ova to tha dark side!

I think that the market should rule but the government should be there to correct things when it fails. This, of course, requires the belief that the government can correct things. Which is where I fall on the Keynesian end of things rather than the neo-classical.

And so your answer is to condition them to be even more collective with government force?

"Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the government of himself. Can he, then, be trusted with the government of others?" – Thomas Jefferson (1801)

If you listen to any conservative, it will clearly be the passage of the Health Care Bill.

You guys really think comets/asteroids are most likely to destroy the human race?

A comet of species killing magnitude only comes around every few hundred million years. A disastrous comet may hit in the next few million years, but I doubt it would end the human race. And in millions of years, we will almost certainly be extinct from some other cause or have colonies in other solar systems.
