Do you understand that our country was founded by revolting against a monarch and our founders believed that people have natural freedoms and that monarchs have no right to rule them? The constitution is about the idea that people have natural rights and have a right to choose their representatives, and those in government should have major limits to their power. The bible believes that monarchs have the right to rule their subjects from God and their subjects should always obey their monarchs.

Exactly, we aren't a monarchy, that is my whole point. We used to be part of one. Why? Because we revolved because we believed that monarchs have no right to rule us, because taxation without representation is wrong. The bible believes that monarchs do have a right from God to rule us and tax us without representation. The bible talks about how people should obey their God-appointed monarchs, the constitution bans any monarchy. That just isn't compatible.

I do think saying women are held in high regard in Catholicism is pretty silly, considering they can't even become pope, but there you go, everyone interprets religion differently.

Just because the Church recognizes the differences between the sexes and assigns different roles for them doesn't mean that it's assigning a lower status for women. The Pope isn't held at the same level as Mary, at all.

I don't think mainstream Christianity as a whole is incompatible with the Constitution, and I am a liberal.

I DO however, recognize that the Christian Dominionist/Reconstructionist sects are 100 percent hostile toward republican constitutional representative democracy.
But that's because their religious dogma supports the concept of a global theocracy, not because of anything in the Constitution.
If there's any hostility, it's not from the founders, it's from the fundamentalist extremists.

But don't take my word for it. It's not a secret.

In mainstream Christianity, no part whatsoever.
But just like Islam, there is an extremist faction of fundamentalists who predict a theocracy in America's future, and they're working feverishly to scale the so called "Seven Mountains" in order to make it a reality.

The difference is, the theocrats already CONTROL two Middle Eastern countries, whereas the extremist fundie Christians do not control this country. But that doesn't mean they're not trying to.
