What should the minimum wage be?

Interesting. If the cost of living is growing at a huge rate like that, how is it possible when inflation is reported to be so low?

if I recall its because they don't include either the cost of gasoline or the cost of food in the official inflation calculations......

Why does minimum wage need to be $15 an hour? Because money isn't worth anything anymore.

Before anyone nitpicks this list to death let me say that there are some things in the "now" side that are inflated even with today's prices (anyone who would pay $100 for a haircut in any year is a goober) but the list makes my point. I am for a $12 minimum wage as long as there is a loophole for certain businesses. I don't think it'd break anyone's bank.

There's one problem. Many people are already earning $12/hr. so what happens to them? They essentially become minimum wage workers.

I agree and it does create a conundrum...and I don't have a solution. But I am for businesses loosening up the purse strings a bit to at least try to help the poorest among us get by. I know that a lot, if not most, of the MW workers are kids but many of them are not. And with the manufacturing businesses forsaking our nation for those nations with cheaper labor, more and more people rely on these MW jobs. If a person is willing to work for a living, I believe they ought to receive a wage that allows them to at least get by. There has to be a balance between the Robin Hood type of mentality and the Scrooge type of mentality...and a way to achieve it. But then I am more of a social conservative than a fiscal one.

Easy answer. How much will a wealthy foreigner pay to have his lawn mowed?

Any decent rightie will tell you, the answer is supply and demand. Somebody will do it for about 2 bucks an hour. Might steal all your guns and rape your daughter and pack it all away in your pickup truck but what the hell. It's the American way!

Loosening up the purse strings?? The righties are starting to waffle. Used to be strictly supply and demand. Good times ahead Americans, if this catches on! I think this one is sayin he could go 8 bucks an hour?

Well, let's outline a few budget items before settling on a minimum wage:
1. Gas for Dad's car for the Saturday night date.
2. Saving for your own car.
3. School supplies.
4. BASIC cell phone services(no internet, camera, texting capability, just a simple phone with minimum minutes for emergencies).
5. Entertainment.
I think $5-$7 an hour should cover it. If your mom and dad is trying to teach you responsibility by charging you room and board(with me, it was a symbolic $15 a month, maybe $7-$9.

I"ll go better then that.
1. Since when is a date a need?
5. Fuck entertainment

You're making way too much sense, leaningright....

Well if you "don't think it will break anyone's bank" then why would you create loopholes? Sorta contradicting yourself aren't you?

I love how armchair Rockefellers on a message board can proclaim what wil and will not break people.

You statists keep trying to control the economy. Those of us who understand economics tell you what will happen. You do it anyway. The bad shit happens. Ad instead of reconsidering your failed ideas you double down.

How high does the unemployment rate for the young and unskilled blacks have to get for you to finally get it?

Then why don't you start a business and show everyone how it is done.

BTW you are yet another individual who completely fucks up the story of Robin Hood. Robin Hood stole from the King who was over taxing the people. He didn't steal from the "rich"

God I hate it when people say stupid shit in an effort to sound smart

Actually we should pass a ban on all good from countries allowing slave labor, or wage slavery conditions. Call it the human decency protection act.
