What skin color emoji do you use?

I use the “thumbs up” all the time, whether texting or on Facebook. Someone says thank you I often respond with a thumbs up instead of typing out “you’re welcome.” Someone says something I agree with … two “thumbs up” emojis. Never really thought about which shade I should use but I suppose the two circles are the ones I use the most often. I don’t like the yellow ones.

My favorites are the hand in the air one … saying like “whatever,” or the one where the guy is raising his hand to use as a response when a question is asked like, “Who likes bacon?” They need one with a bald guy though. I feel discriminated against. ;)

I use the thumbs up "like" button (where you are given the heart, thumbs up, thumbs down and Haha options) when texting but that doesn't offer differing skin tone options (at least as far as I can tell). I think that's different than the thumbs up emoji being discussed above.

In honor of my man PoliTalker and the desire to make America more woke I'm curious how folks here handle this. (I don't know if I've ever actually texted a thumbs up emoji but if I did I'd have to plead guilty that I didn't think about the racial subtext behind it.)

Is this a Woke Test?

(it seems 'divisional'. didn't King say something about your 'character' rather than your 'color'?)

It's not a test to my knowledge but clearly if NPR and academics are delving into the issue it's of importance (at least to them). As I understand the argument eliminating white supremacy, taking down white privilege and being anti-racist involves lots of actions like this. People like Poli can chant "be woke, vote Democratic" over and over but much of the real work is at this level (and isn't about partisan politics).

I don't want to pretend to be able to speak for others. I'm willing to guess many who consider themselves woke probably don't spend a lot of time thinking about things like this but I could be wrong. But it is about being very conscious of your actions and thoughts at all times.

I think the Wokesters are all about 'Identity Politics'. Which 'Group' do you fit in? 'Radical Feminists'? 'Gay Liberation'? 'Black'? 'White'? .
Then, ... you have to figure out if you are a 'Victim', or a 'Victimizer'.

if I include a thumbs up/down in a text I use whichever one is suggested by the software.
I am far too lazy to go looking for one.

I do not know why it's a problem for some.

Yellow thumb up stands out against a white background.

No guilt. No white privilege.

'White Guilt' is todays 'Black Power'.
King wanted Individuals judged on their Character.
Wokesters want Individuals judged on their Color.

If you are 'Black', or some other non-White color, there is 'systematic racism', and you are 'owed' something.
'White Guilt' means even if you live in a Trailer Park and get Food Stamps, you have to accept the Label of 'White Privilege'.

As an example, Volsrock and Guno are both Haters. Because Volsrock is White, he's a 'racist'. Because Guno is Black ... he's not really a 'racist'.
It's all about which Group you are in.
Wokesters claim it's NOT about Guno's Character, it's about Guno's skin Color.
'HATING' is OK, ... depending on COLOR ... NOT CHARACTER.

I’m not woke, I’m aware. I’ve been on this planet for 66 years and I aware that people just want to be accepted and loved for who they are. I try hard to do that.

Good fucking grief. NPR has fallen a long fucking way. They used to at one time back in the late 90s and early 00 be somewhat useful, now they're a bunch of woke retards.

I'm literally the color of the bottom middle one (actually slightly darker), and I use the top left one. Why? Because that's the one that pops up in my text suggestions and I don't feel like scrolling through a bajillion emoticons to find the perfect match to my skin tone (nor through some obscure setting to make the bottom middle one be the one that pops up). Does that make me racist too? :palm:
