What the 'EVs for everybody' cultists don't want you to know

I LOVE EV's.
The absolute instant, peak torque they give you on launch is fantastic.
Sure, the sound has a lot to be desired - especially compared to a normally-aspirated, V8 engine.
But for racing, they are fab.
Going around a corner, you can keep the torque EXACTLY where you want it...easily.
That is rarely the case with internal combustion engines.

If they can get the cost of batteries down enough - they will clearly be the future.
The savings on parts/service alone would be gigantic.

However...the government - as with ALL things to do with the economy - should stay the FUCK out of it.
All they will do is wreck it/make it worse.

If EV's are the future?
Let consumers decide that for themselves.
Not a bunch of government bureaucrats listening to a bunch of ignorant, tree huggers.

The fact is that the grid is deteriorating and vulnerable already, and it has been for years according to the available information.

Adding more demand by replacing over 250 million road-registered registered vehicles with EVs while replacing reliable and scalable generating capacity with unreliable "green" solar and wind power is nuts.

And that's not even considering the extra demand created by replacing all internal combustion (and jet) engines with battery-powered alternatives, like construction and agricultural equipment, military vehicles, and aircraft.

It's crazy to get rid of something that works before an adequate replacement is available.

But the left likes to set goals to pander to people who don't think things through.

Leftists never think things through to their logical conclusions...except how to cheat elections.

Unfortunately, as the late PJ O'Rourke pointed out decades ago:

P.J. O'Rourke joins us from New York. Thanks very much for being with us.

Mr. P.J. O'ROURKE (Author): Well, thank you for having me on the air.

SIMON: Could I get you to read the whole chapter on climate change?

Mr. O'ROURKE: And folks, this won't take long. Climate change: There's not a damn thing you can do about it. Maybe climate change is a threat, and maybe climate change has been tarted up by climatologists trolling for research grant cash. It doesn't matter. There are 1.3 billion people in China, and they all want a Buick.

Actually, if you go more than a mile or two outside China's big cities, the wants are more basic. People want a hot plate, and a piece of methane-emitting cow to cook on it. They want a carbon-belching moped, and some CO2-disgorging heat in their houses in the winter. And air conditioning wouldn't be considered an imposition if you've ever been to China in the summer.

Now, I want you to dress yourself in sturdy clothing, and arm yourself however you like - a stiff shot of gin would be my recommendation - and I want you to go tell 1.3 billion Chinese that they can never have a Buick. Then, assuming the Sierra Club helicopter has rescued you in time, I want you to go tell a billion people in India the same thing.

That's really good! :good4u:

That's really good!

He was a wise man.

It's disgusting to see entitled white leftists who enjoy all the modern conveniences (and who have no intention of sacrificing themselves) telling the poor in third-world shitholes that they need to live in primitive conditions "to save the planet".

We have a choice. We can either work hard, improve the grid into a smart grid, and lead the way for the rest of the 21st century, or we can become a third world nation over the next 50 years. We know which side the alt right is choosing, because they do not like hard work... But the rest of us should choose the hard work.

stop threatening people, jackass.

I think AssHat has made a very telling statement here. I have not even asked us in joining the rest of America in putting in the hard work to build up America, I just said the rest of us should put in the hard work. AssHat finds just bringing up the topic of hard work to be threatening.

Your agenda is desctructive and just pro china/anti america.

Working hard to modernize the electrical grid is the opposite of destructive, and is not "pro-China". If we have to depend on China to modernize the grid, that would be pro-China.

No one is asking you to work hard. You are probably fairly useless, so would not be needed.

But, maybe it would be good for your health to work a little. The falling life expectancy linked to the alt right is partly caused by this laziness.

you're insincere on building up america.

We should open up anwr and institute tariffs to stimulate american productivity.

but you're against those actually intelligent moves, opting instead for your globalist/environmentalist lies.

Notice the decades long general lack of interest in investing in the grid.

Even now as The Regime pushes battery cars on us.

This is going to suck.

We are making over a trillion new dollars for infrastructure, and the grid needs multiple hundreds of billions, but it wont get it.

Buckle Up.

Also the Empire can take the entire grid down for at least a year with their EM Pulse weapons....we could harden it....we choose to not.

STUUUUUUPID!

One in six people in America is not an illegal alien, so you are wrong.

How do you know?

Even beyond that official numbers, I live in America. I regularly go to NJ and NY, which have high numbers of illegal aliens, and even they do not have 1 in 6. West Virginia, or Arkansas would have to have far fewer. It just is not possible.

If you live in America, and you believe what you see around you, you would know there is no way there is 50 million illegal aliens in America.

I am working hard to build America, and would encourage you to work hard too. I believe you are probably useless in getting anything done, but it would help your health to work hard.

So aimless productivity is the goal? SOunds like ocd. or advice you would give a slave.

Notice the decades long general lack of interest in investing in the grid.

There was a massive privatizing of the grid for the last 50 years. The investment went into buying what we already had, not building more.

Democrats from Carter to Gore to Biden have pushed for investing into the smart grid... But it has been blocked.

This is going to suck.

Putting in hard work, getting good pay, building America into something greater.... I am very excited. It does not suck for me.

So you say.

So, as I suspected, you have no proof to back up your statement.
