What to do in Cincinnati?

It sounds strangely like St. Louis, only the sitting for hours waiting for something to move happens on I-270, while the four other major hwys take turns.

Never been there but I’m aware that St. Louis has the highest per capita murder rate in the country. I grew up in New Orleans which is about the fourth highest and that was more than enough for me to never go there again. Cincinnati sounds a little better than those two shitholes. Folks watching grass grow doesn’t sound so bad in comparison.

Yeah, it was so bad there before we moved (STL) that most of the local news coverage had to do with shootings, carjackings, etc. They seldom covered "lesser" crimes like assault, robbery, rape unless they were truly spectacular. My oldest g-son got carjacked at gunpoint last year, and that was in a suburb 10 miles from the city limits. My office was also roughly 10 miles from the city limits; when I left later in the evenings I'd often see drug deals going down in the parking lot. We always went out in groups rather than alone.

Our home was a ~20 min. drive from downtown, in a fairly affluent area. If you left your car in the driveway or street unlocked, it would be pillaged in the morning. One of our neighbors had a beautiful older two-story brick and stone home with copper guttering. Thieves stole the guttering in broad daylight! We kept a lock on our gate because thieves were going into back yards and taking a/c units. Driving home one afternoon from visiting my daughter, on Hwy 44, something hit my windshield right in from of my face and shattered it. There were no vehicles immediately in front of me or to the side, and nothing close on the other side of the hwy. Stray bullet? I was just outside the city limits so possibly so. I don't miss living there at all.

I hear what you’re saying. In the past I’ve seen quite a bit of excitement. Much of which was not pleasant.

About 120 miles. I currently live in Dublin. I lived in the Dayton, Middletown, Cincinnati area for about 5 years. Went to School at Wright State.

Was born in Dayton, lived in Kettering till we moved to STL for dad's job, when I was 7. Barely remember much about it. Cincinnati Zoo, the trolley cars in Dayton, the horrible smell of the Miami River, Vic Cassano pizza, sonic booms from the jets at Wright-Pat, that's about it.

Yo Desk remember when your pop pop got you the used Malibu and
Your bro got jealous and broke the window.

He punched the ball. Broke his hand. Now he wacks off with the other.
Rehabilitated the other. Now he has two strong hands.

Yea St. Louis one of the most dangerous cities in the US. It has significantly more murders than NYC which is around 9 times larger.

That’s why I like Columbus. It’s crime rate is way down the list and the suburbs are about as safe as you can get for a metro area. Columbus has a violent crime rate of about 55 per 10,000 people. Dublin’s is like 6.

I was born around Dayton too but moved at a young age up to Michigan. Cassano's Pizza is still a bit of a Dayton staple. Almost moved back until COVID halted plans.

Not exactly local to Cincinnati. LOL

My flight school suitemate was from Cincinnati and went to college at Miami University. Smart guy, an engineer, but he sure loved to brag about how great "Cinci" was to anyone who would listen.

I only know it from my jogs from the Covington side over the pedestrian bridge.

I bet you like Michigan better. Me too.

It's only slightly more isolated since most things are a ways away in Traverse or other towns up north. Living on a lake is worth it though. Mostly summer homes up here but we have those that are year-rounders.
