What were the ratings of Kimmel's show?

As the genre faces a profound shift, the future of some late-night show hosts is highly uncertain. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Jimmy Kimmel remarked that the latest two-year contract for Jimmy Kimmel Live might be his final run. In a recent episode, Kimmel showed his concern about the future of late-night TV entertainment on the Potlickin' podcast by saying, "I will have a hard time when it's over. It worries me," emphasizing the anxiety shared by many in the industry.

There is a theory that Kimmel is not a victim......he got exactly what he wanted as a last ditch effort to save the show.....a Hail Mary move.

The question isn't "what were the ratings."

It's "what were the politics?"

We're in a new era. I get why the right will welcome that - but it's a new era, nonetheless.
It's always about the ratings. Kimmel was a liability and his actions tripped a clause in his contract. The same with FOX and Tucker Carlson.

  • Reports from September 2025 suggested the show could be losing $10 to $20 million per year (or potentially even more, with some estimates in the $40-50 million range) due to the high operating costs, including Kimmel's reported annual salary of around $15-16 million.
This suggests that this was a political decision, not a fiduciary one.

  • Total Contract Value: One report from The U.S. Sun mentioned his previous multi-year agreement with Disney was valued at $48 million, which would cover several years. The specific value of the latest one-year extension has not been publicly disclosed.
I believe I know why it wasn’t disclosed.

Didn’t you say the company was just riding out the contract?!?
I think they were until it became a political football. This message below tends to be more where I lean now. They are willing to lose money for another year to make political points...

So, in your pretend world, Trump saved Kimmel for another year! The Network is spending 10’s of millions on political points.

Indeed. His ratings went to normal levels and they seem happy with 1.7...
It's well known that late night talk shows are being taken over by podcasts. It's about flexibility; podcasts can be listened to or watched anytime, but late night is live. It helps that they can be seen on streaming, but since too many people engage in confirmation bias, that might not save them.

There's also the factor of choices. The MAGAt cracker retards keep pointing out how Fox News tops the other cable news services, but are too fucking stupid to understand that Fox is the only RW cable news while the others split up moderates and LWers among different media outlets.

I support a requirement to pass a mental healthy exam and a knowledge test before a person can vote...to be taken every 5 years. That will stop a lot of this bullshit on both sides.

Mr. Tiny Penis must be unaware that FOX is a PAY channel on cable TV. The other three asshats can be watched for free, and they still cannot match Gutfeld.

Well, that isn't true at all. Newsmax and One America News Network and others exist on cable.
