Sometimes, this is what it takes to get the job done, and you have to suck it up and continue, because to retreat now would be to abandon the cause those people died for.
And for what? What have we gained for the loss of these 3000+ dead men and the 13000+ maimed?
This is the whole problem in a nutshell, summed up in this very thought! You can't see any justification or reason whatsoever, and you never will. For what? Well, for abso-fucking-loutely NOTHING if you get your way!
I'm a pretty objective and reasonable person, if I saw the US in some catastrophic bloodbath of 'Vietnam-like' proportions, I would be just as opposed to this war as you are, and demanding we come home now. Apparently, you see this, it's how you view Iraq, and nothing I can tell you will ever change your mind, it's made up.

I haven't made up any phony statistic, just revealing some objective analysis. Iraq isn't Vietnam, and it never will be, that's just a fact. As far as wars go, Iraq is a dwarf among all others in terms of casualty and death, again, that isn't made up, that is just a fact of the matter you need to accept. I'm not making any of this shit up, just trying to bring Iraq back into proper perspective here, from the loony left-wing propaganda notion that Iraq is another Vietnam.
Let's objectively look at the situation, I know you have it in you to do that, right? Iraq has established a functional democracy. They have held several elections, and are moving along rather well for a country that has never done democracy before! At the current time, they have some security trained and ready, they are handling most of the security details in Iraq at this time. There are isolated problems, and isolated trouble areas, and these result in sporadic violence and the occasional bomb, that kills innocent Iraqis or American servicemen. The groups responsible make up a very small portion of the people of Iraq, the vast and overwhelming majority of Iraq is on-board with the whole Unity Government democracy thing, and anxious to vote again. Things are improving in Iraq daily, but you don't hear of positive news, if it bleeds, it leads... and so, you always hear of the people who died here or there in some attack or bombing, and you never hear of the progress and improvement happening daily, steadily, slowly but surely.
The way I see it, we are at a point where it would be stupid beyond belief to just give up and leave! WHY? Because a few cowardly scum buckets killed some people with their terrorist bomb? That's a nice way to combat terror! Tuck your tail between your legs and run away because they are killing too many people! And the thing about it is, the Iraqi's CAN'T run away! They are stuck there! You are fine and dandy with just telling them to kiss your big fat Eric Cartman sized ass! Screw you guys, I'm going home!
