Conservatives harbor an odd admiration for Vladimir Putin

It is rather curious, given the American conservative movement’s long and dramatic history of anti-Communism and anti-Russian saber-rattling, that many leading voices on the right are speaking about Russian President Vladimir Putin with varying degrees of admiration.*
For some, it is just a matter of comparing Putin’s toughness with President Obama’s alleged weakness. Without suggesting any love for Putin, Republicans in Congress have asserted that Russia’s incursion into Ukraine would not have happened had Obama not been such a wimp in his dealings with Moscow.
This line has been pushed especially hard by the foreign policy Tweedledee and Tweedledum of the Senate GOP caucus, John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio echoed that sentiment at the CPAC conference in Washington on Thursday.*
Up until about 18 months ago, I remember with crystal clarity that conservatives were wailing, complaining, and bellowing that Obama was not being "tough enough" on Russia/Putin.
I wonder why the drastic change in tone all of a "sudden"?
and when will republicans stop getting boners for Putin?
You liberal Democrats (the party of Barney Frank) are the ones saying people should be able to get boners for whoever we want.
Hypocrisy has never run this deep.
American conservatives ought to be ashamed of themselves...but they do not have enough self-respect for that...let alone love of country and/or principle.
Let them love Putin for now. The moment a Democrat is in office...they will attack any attempt at rapprochement. They are okay with a draft-dodging, philandering pig right now...but will paint much more decent people as those things when a Democrat is in office.
The fact that they can abide the stink of American conservatism at this point in time...tells you everything you have to know about them.
are you sure Bourbon?
You could just call him tris!
what is that supposed to mean?
