When the democrats pass this bailout will the resident lefty hacks r4espond by

  • Adopting a trickle down argument (i.e., we had to to bailout the rich to shield the masses)

The Democratic party in Mississippi is a right wing organization. But I have a choice between a right-wing organization that it slightly more moderate that the Republicans, and whos candidates will support Pelosi and Reid in the legislature, and the Socialist party that wants a maximum wage and has no chance of winning. There just isn't a serious third party in America.
 
Dixie will blame Dems for everything. Dems are responsible for Iraq, Katrina & the economic crisis. The guy in the White House is usually on vacation, anyway.

It's the impression Darla always does: "What happened? How did I get here?"

No there is not, and we just are not set up that way. I would love it if we had a system similar to the Brits. But we don't.

IMO, it's less that the elections are "unfair" in any criminal sense, but there are institutional factors that will always suppress the development of third parties in an SMP system. Lots of intellectually dishonest Democrats and Republicans like to use that to justify their continued support of the vapid, unprincipled major parties.

I would support one of your Mississippi democrats for president over either one of the candidates we have running now.

The c word thing is really a drag. It seems to have really caught on with the blockheads, though.

Britian uses an SMP system and has third parties. It's possible to have third parties under SMP, even though you won't get nearly as many seats as votes. The fact is, our third parties are just weak as shit. Out of even SMP democracies, only the US is the only one that has no significant third party. This is, perhaps, because of the extremely weak party discipline. Ron Paul would've been kicked out of the Conservative party in the UK. But since it's much easier to just run as a Democrat or Republican and spout off crazy ideas than make a new party to do it, most people will choose not to found another party.

It is unfortunate. I wish people wouldn't debase themselves, even if it was in answer to a perceived wish for harm to another's daughter.

Still. The LibDems might as well be Libertarians when you consider their actual chance of governing. SMP systems are always going to marginalize and dilute support for third parties.

American elections are unfair in that they are unfairly held and counted.

They are counter-productive to true democracy because they are based on money .. and generally the money wins.

Both democrats and republicans have contributed to this corrupt system and both ward hard to supress 3rd party representation.

They are a party unto themselves .. dixiecrats .. and they have a specific ideology they follow.
