When will white people stop thinking this is freedom of speech?

When will they hold the police accountable for supporting white supremacy?

This is America. Racism has always been there.


PORTLAND, Ore. ― Police did a good job on Saturday preventing what could have been the most violent far-right rally since last year’s deadly “Unite the Right” gathering in Charlottesville, Virginia — all they had to do was protect the proto-fascists who came to town, and use riot control weapons, flash-bang grenades and chemical irritants against anti-fascist counter-protesters.

For hours, dozens of officers in full riot gear stood across a closed section of Naito Parkway along the Willamette River, keeping the two sides apart. On one side of the parkway, in Tom McCall Waterfront Park, stood hundreds of out-of-towners belonging to the Proud Boys — a punch-drunk far-right group of self-described “Western chauvinists” dressed in helmets and body armor — and those aligned with Patriot Prayer and its leader Joey Gibson, a Republican Senate candidate from Washington state who has held a series of increasingly violent rallies in the Pacific Northwest since 2017.

Both groups have deep ties to white supremacists.

It is freedom of speech unless they are violating the law--blocking roadways, demonstrating without a (required) permit, committing violence...

A demonstration in favor of white supremacy has the same free speech protections as any other type of free speech. Free speech can be offensive.

It is not just white people who have this opinion--it is the Constitution supported by multiple court decisions.

Hate speech is not free speech.

This is the problem. And yes, it is white people, they are main ones who consider this free speech.
 
Legal masturbation aside, I never considered calling someone to their face a "n*gger", "cunt", "towel head", or "wetback" to be a form of free speech. It is intended to dehumanize, threaten, intimidate, humiliate, and demean. I never cease to be amazed that certain message board forums allow it and consider it a form of "free speech".
 
I always thought that free speech would reveal who some people are and drive people away from them. I was wrong. People like Trump, groups like Infowars and Qanaon, show that many Americans are unable to process and evaluate information. They latch onto crazy shit and repeat it like gospel. Vilewherb in not the only goofball on this board who wants so desperately to believe conspiracies and craziness. But they are rightys.

Your constitutional law is wrong. Hate speech (not crimes) is free speech and protected by our Constitution. I would hate to think blacks or any other non-whites do not equally support free speech. If white people are the main ones who think hate speech is free speech, then they are the main ones who are correct on this subject.

The courts say we can advocate anything we want (overthrow of government, sex with minors) or call people any offensive names we choose.

I challenge you to show me any examples of hate speech which has been prohibited by governmental bodies and upheld by the courts.

Strange that you only cite extreme right wingers while trying to paint all conservatives. I can do the same with the antics of the far left, would that be fair? No sport there are extremist on both sides it's time for you to accept that.
