My guess is he died about three days before Bush announced that he was no longer the focus of our presence in Afghanistan and since then they've been able to release a very few of the tapes that have some vague relevance to something happening in the present, barely enough to pretend he is still alive. We just listen, say it is his voice, then move on. The dude died a long, long time ago.

it is entirely possible we killed him in a bombing run and simply have no way to verify his death. if he was alive, he would be making videos.
 
We shook the ground around his cave so hard earthquakes were probably happening for miles around it. That fucker is buried very, very deep. :)
