Which states (and where) have the most one-parent households

Looks to me like native Americans and Blacks predominate in single-parent households. These two groups also predominate in crimes and drug use.

No racial or ethnic group is inherently more violent than another. That’s not how human behavior works. What does influence violence are things like:

  • Poverty and economic inequality
  • Access to education and jobs
  • Neighborhood conditions
  • Exposure to violence
  • Policing practices and reporting differences
  • Historical and structural inequalities
These factors can shape crime rates in certain areas, but they are social and economic patterns, not traits of any race.

The FBI says differently.


If you look at the TOTAL percentage distribution on that table, Blacks who make up about 12.5% of the population commit 26.6% of the serious crimes in the US. That's double their percentage in the population. All other groups (Hispanics are counted as White on this table for whatever reason), commit crimes in proportion to their percentage of the population.
