To be fair, they never "negotiated" any rights away, although early on, they did support some gun restrictions (machine gun bans, for one).
It wasn't until the 1968 gun control act that they had enough of the restrictions.

Many whites I know find guns to be security blankets. It isn't race that scares them but the robber or thief. Others of course hunt and find pleasure in shooting. I was expert in the military and wonder if I'd could still see that clearly. But the proliferation of guns in our society leads to way too many deaths and suicides, and then through fear to more guns to protect against guns. It is a circle that never ends. Ninety six Americans on average die everyday, not a stat to be proud of.

Way to many people refuse to realize that the US has changed, over these many years, and act like things are the same way; plus, they act like the US is the only country that practiced slavery and that slavery still doesn't exist in other countries.

It's the same way with Black men being shot.
They raise false indignation, when the shooter is White; but I haven't heard a call for protests when numerous Blacks are killed, by other Blacks.

Where are the organized protest marches in front of drug dealer's homes or crack houses or on the corners and such where drugs are sold on almost a daily basis?

When it comes to suicides, the only way you can claim that as a gun problem is if you can prove the one committing suicide wouldn't have done it if he/she didn't use a gun.

Someone should have asked Burger how if "the 2nd amendment doesn't guarantee the right to have firearms at all" how a militia could even be formed since they were formed by private citizens that owned firearms.

Blacks.....COULD HAVE constructed their own FREE REPUBLIC on the continent of Africa and never have had to concern themselves with the issue of slavery. Again.....its LEGAL to buy and purchase a weapon. Its therefore impossible to stop criminals from obtaining a product that is readily available. Gun ownership is a guaranteed right protected via Constitutional decree. Therefore there is no solution in stopping criminals from using a legal product to kill.....the solution must be sought elsewhere, like finding a viable DEFENSE against such criminal activity. It is illegal to kill another person in the United States. Yet that law will not stop the criminal anymore than more regulation of an existing constitutional right will stop criminals from obtaining and using firearms. Protect people via application of practical self defense solutions. Guns, just like Government are a necessary evil in this free republic....if you wish this republic to remain free.

A president may now order the targeted assasination of any citizen. The list of who we have partnered with is quite “exceptional” given our “values”; Saddam, Osama, al Qaida, al Nusra, ISIS, the land cleansing Israelis and Wahabist Islamist Saudis who actually did have a hand in 9/11.
