White plane pilot, white helicopter pilot, air traffic control tower full of white guys

To be accurate, the pilot of the helicopter was a white female with only 500 hours of flight time. That's literally just the minimum amount of time a normal pilot has to get to in order to take his test to become a solo pilot commercially. The crash was caused by an inexperienced woman allowed to fly the helicopter at night in a crowded airspace.
The required flight time for a commercial license is 250 hours, not 500. 500 hours is not 'inexperienced'. Flying at night can be done solo in as little as 10 hours of training.

Do we have the best air traffic controllers in place? Something to consider...
How long has this been going on?
ATC at DCA is no picnic. The airspace is very crowded with flight continuously landing and taking off. Like JFK, only the best of the best managed to get certified there.

Both ATC controllers involved in the crash are immediately decertified, which is normal. They now face a year of investigations and perhaps years of accusations (whether they are at fault or not!). BOTH have to live with the fact that 60+ people died under their watch for the rest of their lives, whether the NTSB holds them responsible or not.
