Do you recall something back in the last decade...

It was either running the names of all the dead on primetime TV, or printing those names in the paper, and the uproar it created? The warmongers hated the idea of humanizing those who died and claimed it would be aiding and abetting the enemy to do it?

Faux caring is part of the entertainment business. You're right, it was phony as were the salutes to the Beach Boys and Glenn Campbell. What mattered though is we care and so they care. That's entertainment. The show must go on. I'm glad they played her tribute if for nothing else so I could enjoy her music.

As for the addiction part. My heart goes out to her family. We almost lost my sister to addiction (acute alcoholism) and it took an intervention and rehab to help, that and her decision that she really wanted to live. Addiction is such a complex disease. I have seen people actively seek help time and time again only to ultimately have the disease claim them. Addiction is a disease and unfortunately, even with treatment, it is still sometimes a fatal disease.

Utter nonsense, they read the list of names every frickin' night on the news. Keeping people from taking pictures of coffins isn't a "national media blackout" on the information. While I disagree with the attempt to keep images away, it didn't keep out the information, that's just babble and self-congratulatory nonsense.
