Airstrip One
Completely Effed
Who did that graphic? It should say Air Force on his tag, not Army...

You appear to be confusing a few poorly trained soldiers who committed crimes at Abu Graib with the highly trained CIA operatives who acted totally within legal boundaries at Gitmo.Well, one thing is clear. From waterboarding to naked prisoners in a pile to mock electrocutions to having one prisoner die from being continually beaten about the legs when it comes to moral grounds I guess we'll have to pass on that.
The difference between Cheney and Clinton is, Cheney is a chickenhawk!
Chickenhawk (also chicken hawk and chicken-hawk) is a political epithet used in the United States to criticize a politician, bureaucrat, or commentator who strongly supports a war or other military action, yet who actively avoided military service when of draft age.
The term is meant to indicate that the person in question is cowardly or hypocritical for personally avoiding combat in the past while advocating that others go to war in the present. Generally, the implication is that "chickenhawks" lack the experience, judgment, or moral standing to make decisions about going to war.
The term was first applied to vocal supporters of military action who were perceived to have used family connections or college deferments to avoid serving in previous wars, particularly the Vietnam War. In current usage, the label is used almost exclusively to describe ardent supporters of the Iraq War who have themselves never been in combat; it is seldom if ever used with respect to supporters of the (more broadly supported) war in Afghanistan as such. The label is not usually applied to women (who were historically, in most countries, barred by law from serving in combat). People who use the term have not necessarily been in the military themselves; people labeled "chickenhawks" have sometimes served in the military, but have not seen combat. Although it is possible to have a military career and never be at war, the term is often used in the context of someone who has been in the military in time of war but make efforts to steer clear of combat, such as George W. Bush's military records showing he wrote "do not volunteer" on being requested if he would consider a tour of duty in Vietnam.

I see...so by your own definition, Bill Clinton, who went to war in Bosnia, (Bosnia certainly was no threat to the US)... putting US troops in harms way, and his many Democratic supporters that wholeheartedly approved of the war through never serving themselves...
Biden, Reid, Carl Levin ,John Rockefeller , Ken Salazar, Bernard Sanders , Charles Schumer , Robert Byrd, Robert Casey, Richard Durbin, Russ Feingold, Patrick Leahy , etc. etc. etc...
are all "chickenhawks"...
We might just as well include those Democrats that approved of Clintons air war and missile war against Saddam Hussein as being 'chickenhawks' too...
The same bunch....cowards and chickenhawks....
Thats an interesting take on things, even to the "do not volunteer" thing...I take it that makes you a chickenhawk also....
I won't try to change your opinion on this subject...you're entitled to it...you've worked much too hard at being as asshole and pinhead, and de-programming isn't my thing anyway....

it would seem to me that the 4K+ dead americans whose boots hit the ground in Iraq due to Cheney and Bush's ineptitude makes the Bosnia issue and the Iraq air campaign kind of weak in counterpoint
That's the strange thing about the definition of crime. I remember, as a kid, playing "monkey pile". Being naked and insisting one play monkey pile is a crime but waterboarding someone until they become unconscious is not.
Most peculiar.
War is war Meathead...putting troops in harms way ...... causalities are irrelevant to this topic....
but then again, its the lefties that think firing a missile from 300 miles away is a cowardly act, or dropping a bomb from 10,000 ft. is cowardly..... while a suicide bomber is a figure of bravery....
it would seem to me that the 4K+ dead americans whose boots hit the ground in Iraq due to Cheney and Bush's ineptitude makes the Bosnia issue and the Iraq air campaign kind of weak in counterpoint.
And I, by the way, can make that statement safe in the knowledge that I served my nation for a quarter of a century in uniform - unlike your four, so I, most definitely am NOT a chickenhawk.
The debate is about "chickenhawks" if you've been following....as in, draft dodgers and war supporters that put troops but didn't serve themselves...
you might include Cheney and Biden....
I hold Clinton to that definition as my example.....
I view active draft dodging and receiving legitimate deferments in different ways....and serving, in whatever capacity as "serving", nonetheless....
be it a cook in the reserves or a fighter pilot in the Guards...

I think that firing a missile is smart ...I think that dropping a bomb is smart... I think committing hundreds of thousands of ground troops in a war of CHOICE is fucking insane.
Cheney is just plain pathetic. His office released around 500 people after YEARS of detainment/interrogation....no explanation given. Yet now he screams bloody murder because Obama is going to clean up HIS mess...and the world knows it.
Cheney, a complete POS who lied this country into an invasion/occupation that's killed over 4,000...the majority after we "won".
The PNAC agenda has it's black mark on history...and Cheney doesn't like it. TFB, when the little chickenhawk can explain to America how information that was for his eyes only got into Libby's memo distribution, I'll be listening about who's endangering America

are you suggesting that Clinton did not receive a legitimate deferment?
and you served for a few years as a mess cook. congratulations. I served for 25 years and retired as a commander. I'd die holding my breath waiting for you to acknowledge THAT!
