Stop trying to split a hair....NO ONE ELSE WAS WALKING AROUND WITH AN EXPOSED, HOLSTERED GUN.

My previous statements stand.

Remarking on the difference between wearing a holstered gun and brandishing a gun is not splitting hairs.

In this case, yes it is splitting hairs.

Brandish - to display ostentatiously
- to exhibit in an ostentatious or aggressive manner

ostentatious - intended to attract notice and impress others

His act was INTENDED to attract notice and impress others.

Or he was in the habit of wearing a holstered gun? Since it is legal in that state and since we do not know the man, this is as likely as your scenario.

Disparaging the man simply because he wears a legal firearm in a legal manner is beneath you, BAC.

You can defend his wearing a gun to a pubic event all you like .. and you can imagine what you will about him .. but I call it like I see it. This man was quite obviously enjoying the moment of him standing in the spotlight with a gun strapped to him .. ie; brandishing.

Whether it was legal or not had zero to do with him ostentatiously brandishing his weapon. Bringing a gun to an event such as that is an anamoly .. which is why it attracted so much attention .. and he knew that.

You like guns? .. That's your issue brother, not mine.

You can call it "disparaging", I'll call it "calling it like it was."

OK, no money

Let's cut the difference. Meet half way in Atlanta. If you want you can call BAC blackie in person.

You except the challange, I'll pay 100% of any gym fees.
I want a witness from the board to give an actual statement of what happened.

I can witness your beat down of the pussyman, then you can witness him running his punk ass away from me as fast as he can.

Trust me, that pussy ain't caming anywhere near Atlanta, or anywhere near either one of us.

I do enjoy shooting, hunting, and gun collecting. But that isn't the reason I am disagreeing with you.

I too am calling it like I see it. And I am, as I have tried to do more and more, giving the benefit of the doubt to people.

It was an obvious display of his weapon and he used it as a prop for his 15 seconds of fame. People don't show up at such events brandishing a gun.

What you call "benefit of the doubt" I call turning a blind eye because you like guns .. which is your right .. but truth here is obvious my brother.

Knowing people who carry guns virtually all the time, I have no idea whether this man meant to make a show of it or just showed up as he normally is.

I am very strict when it comes to carry and handling of guns. If I see something that looks like it is dangerous or meant to intimidate, I am the first to speak out.

That you claim I am turning a blind eye solely because of my hobby is sad. I would have thought differently of you.

I'm not sure who you think I am, but this man's display of his weapon does not require rocket science intelligence to determine that it was an act meant to shock and impress.

People may indeed carry guns all the time .. but they don't carry them to events such as this .. which is why this was news.

I don't mean to offend you good brother, but I have a completely different, but honest opinion of this incident.

I am not offended by a difference of opinion. I simply have different, but equally hoest opinion of the incident.

so police officers brandish their weapons everyday, why aren't they arrested?

Excellent .. even the best of teammates have occassional differences of opinion.

I retract my comment about you agreeing with this guy because you like guns.

Bad form, I apologize.

Because they get paid to brandish their weapons and because it makes sense for them to do so.

no BAC, lets not be obtuse my friend. It's because it's not brandishing, no matter how you try to slice and dice it. Brandishing requires a deliberate showing to intimidate and threaten or to display it in ones hand. Not sitting in a holster peacefully carried.

Can you possibly be serious?

You're trying to equate a police officer with a gun to some dude who brandishes it for effect?

"obtuse"???

Go back and read the definition of brandishing. See if you can find "holster" or "hand" anywhere in it. In fact ...

and no single court in this country has ever defined brandishing in that manner. I repeat, a handgun in a holster is NOT brandishing. and YES, If you want to qualify brandishing in that manner, then I'll equate it to police as well. same actions, same effects. there is no universal difference in the laws of unintended consequences because someone wears a badge.

You can argue with Websters all you want brother.

You can brandish your high school letter jacket. It means attracting attention for effect .. which is exactly what he did.

This really isn't worth us arguing over. We aren't going to agree.

They're cops....officers of the law.....empowered by the people to enforce laws and protect the general welfare of the public..and when necessary to use force.....deadly force if required. They holsters of part of their uniform that establishes their position in society.

Again, this has NOTHING to do with the little dope that decides to brandish his weapon to a meeting on healthcare that the President was speaking at. HEALTHCARE, NOT GUN CONTROL. He achieved his goal....it's just that the scrutiny he got wasn't what he bargained for. Deal with it.
