Who is going to support the alt right?

And you don't have to answer this (because I know Walt is on your 'team') but do you understand the OP? Can you translate it for me? (not a big deal I'm just curious what he's trying to say)

This may have been before you joined the board but back in the day I posted drunk before and when reading it later thought to myself "what in the F was I thinking/trying to say". The OP reminds me of that
You are awfully upset by something that you claim to not understand. My theory is you understand fine.

There is a real question of what happens when the educated people stop trying to keep things going.

I bet his mom tells him how smart he is every morning before he gets on the special school bus.
Do you know why they built the Berlin Wall? One of the big reasons was East Germany was losing all its doctors, engineers, and scientists. They were walking away from a culture that did not reward them.

It's not upset it's more intrigued. Are you suggesting a real life Atlas Shrugged where people go John Galt and drop out of society?

Atlas Shrugged was a silly book written by an idiot. But real people do walk away from situations where they are not rewarded as well as they could in other places. It is just life. One of the primary differences is that no one is going to drop out of society, but they will move to a new society... Or will retire.

Very few on the alt right work, and those who do technically work, rarely really work. I come back to the question, who is going to support those bums, now that they have done so much damage to America?

America is a country of less than 5% of the world's population, who gets about 25% of the world's resources. That is a very good deal. We will never get that deal again once it is lost.

When I have less, far less, I will be far less willing to share with the alt right. That goes for everyone. And there is only so much you can do to get blood from a stone. If I am only making $100k, I will not be paying $600k in taxes. I will not be able to.
There is no such thing as an 'alt-right', Wally.

You obviously have never read it.

Random phrases. No apparent coherency.

And do not forget that one of the goals of many of the alt right is to destroy New York City financially. New York City supports a huge part of our economy. So we are not even talking about the people who support dropping out, but instead being shoved out.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Democrats have done that successfully all by themselves. You fucking idiot.

You live in a fantasy world.

You are literally describing what John Galt did (with the new society). Are you suggesting they’ll be a mass movement to Europe, Asia, Dubai etc? It’s like you’re speaking in code. Who are these people you’re referring to that will leave our current society? Well to do liberals?

I enjoy good conversation (yes, even with people who generally have different views than I) but I have a hard time following you.

The alt right, a small number of people who live at their parents house and talk sh*t online, is going to destroy New York City?

I mean, ok?

How’s the hang over Walt? You trying to give Hawkeye a run for his money for posting while drinking?

I respect it. In a prior life I used to come home from an evening out and instead of going to bed I’d hop on JPP. I’d wake up in the morning, usually hungover, and check the board and be like “what in the absolute fvxk did I post last night?!”

Yes I remember your drunk posting era very well.

Yeah, to this day still couldn’t answer why I thought it was a good idea to go on JPP and post instead of just passing out. (Even Darla would leave me messages saying “are you ok?)

Man, that seems like a really long time ago (and I suppose it was). Now I barely drink let alone stay up late like that. Haha. (Man, to be young and single in SF was something…)

I understand why you as a progressive socialist wouldn't like the story behind Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged simply
because you are dead set against her quote from my signature. And could you give me your definition of what an Alt Right
person is or believes in?

John Galt is a poorly written fictional character who tried to create a brand new society. The Jews in Nazi controlled Europe moved to new societies that already existed.

And then there is the simple moving away from certain areas of the country. IVF treatment, which almost always involves "killing" embryos is moving away from red states that is making the "killing" of embryos "murder." It is becoming harder to get academic staffs in Florida, where there are all sorts of new laws putting them under DeSantis' thumb.

Or take fracking. It is mostly done in red states, so why would I bring that up? Most of the implementation of the technology was designed in California, but it is done, so why would I bring that up? It is extremely capital intensive, requiring constant new investment. There is only one place on earth that can be done, and that is New York City. With the constant attacks on New York from the alt right, it is getting harder and harder just to get that done.

Wyoming got 500 times as much aid per capita to recover from 9/11 as New York State did. Which do you think was more effected by 9/11?

The Federal Government built none of the highways in New York City, and does nothing for the subways that carry far more of the people in New York than the few highways. New York City does pay taxes that helps pay for highways in Wyoming.

On the other side of the equation, 80% of the industrial support in Biden's Inflation Reduction Act goes to red states. Democrats are willing to help the entire country, even parts that do not vote for them. Republicans are trying to destroy anyone who does not vote for them.

The Sunbelt is leading America in population growth while states like California, Illinois and New York are losing population. So if that's what you are referencing by existing societies then yes, it's occurring.

And you're claiming some kids in their parents basement attacking NYC on websites that 99.9% of the country don't view is causing investors to avoid/leave NYC? Sure thing. I'll take your word on that.

What does any of this have to do with the alt right? And you started this thread to complain about Wyoming getting highway dollars?

I can't follow your thinking (other than typical Northeasterner who thinks the world revolves around NYC - although I suppose to be fair to NYC no City is as parochial as Boston)
