i know we have gone around on this a few times, but here is a new study showing that 10 million hispanic citizens may be prevented from voting

does anyone honestly claim that the rep passed voting laws are not designed to prevent minority voting, given the number of voter fraud cases in the u s of a, it looks like a cure in search of a problem, not to mention wasting tax payer money on something frivolous

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New voting laws in 23 of the 50 states could keep more than 10 million Hispanic U.S. citizens from registering and voting, a new study said on Sunday, a number so large it could affect the outcome of the November 6 election.
The Latino community accounts for more than 10 percent of eligible voters nationally. But the share in some states is high enough that keeping Hispanic voters away from the polls could shift some hard-fought states from support for Democratic President Barack Obama and help his Republican rival, Mitt Romney.
The new laws include purges of people suspected of not being citizens in 16 states that unfairly target Latinos, the civil rights group Advancement Project said in the study to be formally released on Monday.

Apparently, it is now a ‘civil right’ for illegal aliens to vote.

Laws in effect in one state and pending in two others require proof of citizenship for voter registration. That imposes onerous and sometimes expensive documentation requirements on voters, especially targeting naturalized American citizens, many of whom are Latino, the liberal group said.

There is nothing onerous or expensive about getting a photo ID.

ADVANCEMENT PROJECT

AP was founded in 1999 by veteran civil-rights lawyers seeking “to dismantle structural barriers to inclusion, secure racial equity, and expand opportunity for all.” Its major initiatives consist of the following:

Right to Vote: AP asserts that while the U.S. Constitution and the 1965 Voting Rights Act prohibit discrimination on account of race and ethnicity, individual states may nonetheless pass “arbitrary” and discriminatory election rules “with vast consequences.” …

Voter Protection: Fighting for “fair elections on behalf of voters of color,” AP collaborates with other voter-registration groups to “develop processes for verifying that applicants are indeed placed on the voting rolls as well as means of investigating unsuccessful applications.” Its coalition partners in this effort include the AARP, the ACLU, ACORN, the AFL-CIO, AFSCME, America Votes, the Brennan Center for Justice, Citizen Action, Common Cause, Democracy Rising, LatinoJustice/PRLDF, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the League of Women Voters, the NAACP, the National Education Association, the National Lawyers Guild, Project Vote, the Public Interest Research Group, the SEIU, the Sierra Club Foundation, UNITE HERE!, and the United States Student Association.

If you think about it these voter suppression laws are stupid and will ultimately bite Republicans in the ass. First, it's a solution in search of problem. There is no significant voter fraud in our nation so even the dumbest dimwit can see that the intent of these laws are voter suppresion. The problem is, there are to many other venues for voting, particularly mail in ballots (I've done that exclusively for 10 years). Though these laws may inconvienance minorities, particularly naturalized citizens whom are mostly Latino, the laws won't have the supresion results Republicans are counting on and ultimately these laws will serve to alienate latinos and other demographics from voting Republican. It's extremely short sighted and it will bite Republicans, particularly at the State level, in the ass in the long run.

These new voting laws are not only directed at minorities ,but directly and purposfully at the poor.
Not really. They're aimed mostly at Latinos and naturalized citizens (who are mostly Latinos). These laws also impact seniors, blacks and students but not to the degree they do Latinos and naturalized citizens.

It's fucking stupid. My wife is soon to be a naturlized citizen. When I told her all she would have to go through and all the documentation she would need to prove her citizenship to register to vote when she recieves her citizenship she was a real unhappy camper. Particularly when she found out alls I need to do is sign a form and provide my address and last 4 digits of my SS#. It's discrimination against naturalized citizens, plain and simple. So Republicans ended up alienating someone who leans Republican. It's just stupid I tell you.

Those mail order brides are a pain ain't they

if you can't get an id in a four year time span, you are a prole, and I don't want you voting. Voting for your leaders is one of the most important duties a citizen can do. You are directly participating in the shaping of your nation. Maybe you should have to go slightly out of your way? Even if you were to convince me it's just a shit test, I wouldn't care. The bottom line is if you are too fucking stupid, or lazy to do something so basic like actively seeking out a photo ID, then you aren't ready for the big boy leagues. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be voting. Tough potatoes.

So the Constitution doesn't guarantee voting rights to citizens?

Quite a rant, but all bs and lacking substance.....
"New voting laws in 23 of the 50 states could keep more than 10 million Hispanic U.S. citizens from registering and voting"

Why.....If they are citizens then they can certainly prove they are citizens.....did all these people get their citizenship papers and documents and just
throw them away....
If they went to trouble of becoming citizens, I should think they hold and cherish those papers as the one of the most important papers they could ever have....
Photo ID's......free and as easy to get as getting your drivers license...and you bet your ass the vast majority of them own and drive cars....

Even Democrats make the claim there are over 12 million Latino/Mexican illegals in the country....who should be be "targeting"......Eskimos?....Chinese?.....Greeks ?

So your whine is all bullshit and buzz words.
Then the claim is made, there is little to no voter fraud....how the hell can you tell if you don't know who is casting the votes each and every year.....you can't....
