Within a week, Bondi's re-election PAC "And Justice for All" received a $25,000 donation from the Donald J. Trump Foundation. Bondi declined to join the lawsuit. Both she and Trump denied there was a quid pro quo and a state prosecutor cleared them, although the IRS later fined Trump for violating political contribution laws. When a New York state court ordered the foundation shut down in 2019, this contribution was listed as one of the misuses of it.

If I were in a car with Trump and I felt he was about to kill someone, I might do something. Enough Americans voted for him for president, so I have to put my personal beliefs aside and assume maybe they know something more than I do. I might be wrong about him. I do not believe I am, but democracy requires a certain amount of humility.
