"Whose Freedom?"

You think we should not have a public education system ?

The old adage goes 'give a man a fish and he'll eat that day, teach a man to fish etc etc.'

A public education system is teaching a man to fish.

Lol...

Sorry I just don't belive Socialism helps anyone...see the Soviet Republic for results!

There is a fundamental difference between Communism and Socialism.

Socialism lays down certain positive freedoms, a right to education, healthcare, decent housing etc but doesn't eliminate negative freedoms in the manner Communism does.

In fact, Socialism is a 'helping hand', rather than a dependency system. It states that if you lay down the basics, for example education, people can learn and work their way out of poverty.

Socialism doesn't negate the idea of market forces, it simply states that certain elements of an individual's life are essential for them to thrive as human beings, and should be ring-fenced from market forces.

This is no different from the attitudes of many confessed capitalists on this board, who wish to ringfence the movement of labour from market forces.

y'all remind me of the 'Beattles' songs
'A hard days night'...or later 'Yellow Submarine' fun to listen too...but really hard to dance too...if ya get the drift!

Listen, assface, wanting to enforce the border is not socialism.

Anyone who thinks people can still exist on welfare their entire adult life is so stupid they are beyond reproach.

I know several people who do there tough guy. Several. They don't live high on the hog by any means, but its good enough for them... tough guy.

Restricting the free movement of labour is certainly opposed to capitalism.

The labour market is no less a commodity that the market in gold or pork bellies.

It is a commodity. ANd we have historically controlled commodities according to their impact on society, and other values besides the profit motive. We don't allow child pornography, or cocaine. Is that socialism? You're a moron.

When you say public education system do you mean like the status quo of today? Or is there room to make changes within this system?

I mean a publicly funded school system, Paid for by everyone regardless if you have children or not. ie Socialistic School system.

Capitalism is not "free market" capitalism in every case. You have oversimplified again and fallen into your regular fallacy of reductio ad absurdam.

Closing a border doesn't stop a government from investing in companies through subsidies or even direct research funding. Capitalism doesn't have to be "free market" capitalism and, in fact, hasn't been in the US for some time. We restrict trade with certain governments, promote it with others, subsidise some companies to help restrict the trade with some. There are even tarrifs...

Pretending that Capitalism is only the Libertarian "free market" is pretense for argument and should be beneath you.

Beefy, I don't know what you're talking about. Welfare was reformed over a decade ago, and you can no longer collect life long benefits. I think the time limit is something like 5 years.

Now, you may be thinking of disability insurance, or something like that. Were a disabled person can get support for the long term.
