We fought a war for independence and won. Seizing land is normally a declaration to war and that's what the Confederacy tried. Normally enemies would be snuffed from the land but the Confederacy surrendered back into American integration. Why they were allowed to parade symbols of their treason is odd. It doesn't really fit the bill of we won a war against that.
