Why do you need feminism?

Cambridge Univ students were asked why they need feminism. Here are 60 answers:

Feminism was created to get women the vote, get them equal pay for equal work, and to get them the equality that is theirs by right. It was started to prevent rapists from getting off by claiming "she was asking for it". It was started to make sure there is justice for those women who are beaten or murdered by their husbands and boyfriends. It was started because men become successful based on what they do, while women are expected to succeed based primarily on their looks, with everything else being secondary.

But thanks for being a prime example of why feminists are still needed.

when was the last time your balls made it out of the testicle lock box?

women and men aren't equal, never have been never will be. That isn't to say that one is better than the other. They each have unique attributes that should be cherished not abolished

But, congratulations on you being equal, you seem very woman like

One consistency among neocons, from forum to forum, is the way they react to men who are not anti-feminists. Rather than discuss specifics, they try and make claims about my masculinity (or lack thereof). Hilarious!!

But to your attempt to make a point, men & women are not the same. I will give you that. But they are equal. To claim otherwise is to claim that one or the other is inferior.

depends on how you define equal. Under the law? Sure. Equal pay for equal work is a bullshit claim, but it works for you guys.

And I am no neocon. I am anti war.

Feminism was ALSO started so that neither women NOR men would be trapped in gender-stereotype roles. Fathers who want to stay home and take care of their kids shouldn't be scorned any more than a mother who wants to work should be scorned.

It's about freeing men as well as women to achieve their potential without being bound in by cultural expectations. Yes, men can be nurses! Yes, women can be firefighters!

Feminism is awesome.
