Democrats need to realize Trump has one thing on his side, it is a shared hatred of the same people and institutions in America. Of course Trump cares nada for his base, but the base doesn't see that, some may not even care so long as their devils are ostracized. Trumpian conservatism is a creation of 'dark money'. Trump is only taking advantage of many years of that propaganda and education. Read 'Invisible Hands' or 'Dark Money' if you doubt that. Money muddies the waters and makes the issues us against them. That works fine because the elites gain power and prestige and the working class throws stones at each other. Meanwhile resentment grows and workable, productive solutions fade into the distance. See "White Trash' too if you care to be educated.
I Know Why Poor Whites Chant Trump, Trump, Trump

"President Donald Trump could be on track to spend as much as triple the time former President Barack Obama did on the golf course in his first year in office -- and to play more than former President George W. Bush did in eight years in office."
"As we crossed the 300-day mark of Donald Trump’s presidency on Thursday, fact-checkers noted that he has made more than 1,600 false or misleading claims. Good God. At least five times a day, on average, this president says something that isn’t true." Timothy Egan
"Look no further than the fact that Sarah Huckabee Sanders can say with a straight face that a comedian being mean to Ivanka Trump on television is “vile,” “vicious,” “appalling,” and “disgusting,” but she will never apply those apt descriptors to the administration she’s fronting for: one that is led by a man who brags about grabbing women by their pussies, calls human beings animals, and enacts policies that separate children from their parents in the name of keeping asylum-seekers out of the United States."
