Damn Yankee is a Catholic! Good grief!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now some more things about him make a lot of sense!
Which is what I suspect. The reason I asked is because his Catholic faith, according to all that is holy and sacred, etc., is the most important aspect of his life. If he acquired it up North, then the thing that is most sacred to him, the faith that will place him in Communion with his Lord and Savior, was instilled by the good people of the Northeast.

Actually it was instilled by my Mother, who moved out of the northeast as soon as she could.

Catholicism is not as popular down here. Ya'll have catholics and we have southern baptists. Actually, SM would fit in better with the southern baptists.
It depends on the state:
It's big in the northeast, great lakes, Louisiana (although in southern MS we do get a bit of catholics, because we're sort of part of the same cultural region), and states with lot's of illegal immigration.
But Louisiana was a KKK stronghold. Your theory blown all to hell.Catholics aren't big in the south because the Klan hates Catholics.

1999 was more recent than 1991.
Poll options say it all.
Can I have two choices to choose from?
And culturally, Louisianna is very different from the rest of the south.
