Why evangelical Christians support Trump

That one -- the one led by Trump. Who, btw, has said that he is pro-choice.

I'm starting to think real Christians should stay out of politics. Politics corrupts religion, and religion corrupts politics. We are taught to be humble, and abide secular laws anyway. Getting in the pool, is a good way to get yourself dirty. Religious morals are just a means to extort people in the end. Looking at the ones preaching them in politics, you know that it amounts to jack. Half of them already worship a false God in money, and power, and aren't truly Christian. Issues like gay marriage, and abortion aren't matters for governance. They only draw out votes from the morally foolish, that are driven by a sense of duty they give themselves. Until everything that's pro-life is on the table, then the issue might as well be silent anyway. It's amazing to hear so many phonies want to ban abortion, but fully support the death penalty. In that scenario, there is no talk of what point it's a person. They're killing a person in cold blood, because they think possible guilt cancels out life's value.

Making abortion illegal,doesn't end abortion!

I'm well aware of that. It just makes it less safe, and people should know that. All it will do is add extra suffering, and death to the issue.

I'm old enough to remember when girls "went to visit her aunt for a little while" when they got pregnant.... and how some died when there was no aunt to go visit, just some DIY abortion. Others lived but were never able to conceive later in life due to internal injuries. How much better to provide information, education, birth control, and in the rare cases when those things fail.... a safe alternative. I've noticed quite a few RWNJs here screaming that if we care so much about immigrants why aren't we letting them move in with us. I'd ask them if they care so much about the unborn, why aren't they paying for their moms' medical expenses and then adopting them once they're here?

Because it has never been about anything other than patriarchal control of society.

And who should these Holy Spirit filled believers in Jesus Christ vote for? The pro abortion party? The pro sin party?

They just as soon we Christians stay home and not vote. That’s the message I get anyway. Like Boris, I was disgusted with the choices of 2016 but I was NOT going to vote for Hillary Clinton...especially with a SC Justice to appoint.

What do you find disgusting about Ted Cruz?

He was my choice on the Republican side...as he was for the majority of Oklahoma. He won here. Hillary couldn’t even beat a self-proclaimed socialist like Bernie Sanders here. But alas, Cruz didn’t end up as a choice in the final say so.

Lets pretend that the Republican Congress didn't steal the SC appointment from the American people.

The ultimate adulterer?

I thought that all sins are created equal for you Thumpers. I guess not. Some sins are greater than others.

And women. And women's sexuality. When women became seen as property, so did their children. Virginity and chastity became cherished virtues because no one wanted to raise/feed/house/clothe the child of another man.

I'm perfectly fine with Xtians voting, and supporting candidates they feel share their values. What I am *not* fine about is having those same values inserted into our public institutions. For instance, we do not need "intelligent design" taught in public school biology classes alongside evolution. We don't need Biblical stuff posted in public buildings, nativity scenes on city hall's lawn, prayers in school or public meetings -- unless all faiths are going to be represented. That's fine if you all think abortion is a sin; just don't try to make it also a criminal offense based on your religion.

BTW, Hillary is much more of a Christian than Trump.

White evangelicals saw in Donald Trump a president who could help them in their fight against diversity, abortion and the shrinking role of religion.

How? When she has a body count attached to her, when she allowed four of our agents to be killed? Allowed her hubby to commit acts of rape in the WH? No thank you. And thank the Sovereign God of Creation that witch is NOT in the WH.

I agree with most of the above... I say no to ID in public ed. When I want my kid to learn from the Bible (and I do) I should take care of that at home. I see that as my responsibility. But I also don’t want taught as fact what continues to be theory.

I’m also not a big proponent of the 10 commandments monuments as I think they are outdated and intensified. Good rules to live by though...well, except the one that was changed. Nativity scenes are not important to me either. Not a big Christmas guy. Not a Christian holiday, IMO. I love that time of year though.

I am absolutely against abortion and do view it as murder. If I were supreme ruler I’d outlaw it but I’m not nor do I have any delusions that abortions will cease. I just cannot vote for anyone who would expand availability or make it easier to obtain. It seems that on the national scene a candidate must bow before the altar of abortion to have a chance at all. That’s something that reall hurts us moderate to conservative Democrats.

As to Hillary being more of a Christian that his highness, I would hold neither of them up to my boy as an example of a Christian...or even a good person. But I have long since ceased from thinking I could find a perfect candidate.
