Why I dont want R's to control Congress.

That's a false choice. Reform can happen w/out the kind of creative destruction you're talking about.

I should add, I'm generally a fan of creative desctruction. But not in this case. If we had lost $6 Trillion, or 8, or 10 (who knows?), the pain would have been so deep, and so widespread, that it would actually be kind of hard to imagine it.

The fact that you can speak so casually & facetiously about it leads me to believe that you haven't even tried to imagine it.

i've had to live it. I'm still sort of living it. If I can make it, anybody else can.

She will?

I keep going back and forth on this, if O'Donnel can get nominated Palin can. But Palin is such an idiot I can't imagine it. But the Republicans nominated GWB sooo...

If the Tea's get there way she will get nominated and will go down in flames...

GM failing alone would have been somewhat catastrophic.
Right there is the fallacy. GM would not have failed. They would have gone through the EXACT SAME TYPE OF BANKRUPTCY! The difference is the feds used the bailout to usurp authority over the structure of the bankruptcy. The bailouts themselves were advertised to PREVENT GM from having to go through bankruptcy. Right there, the bailouts were a miserable failure. We have yet to see the consequences of government mandates in the bankruptcy they went through in spite of 50 billion wasted taxpayer dollars.

Would the recession have been worse without the invented money coming from a government that doesn't have it? Most definitely. OTOH, the recovery, though delayed, would have been more natural, and therefore more stable as well as stronger. We are now in the unfortunate (and deliberate, IMO) situation where any continued recovery will be dependent on more and more government intervention, a situation loved by mommy government liberals, but a situation that will, eventually, end in collapse to make the recent crisis, and even the Great Depression, look like minor fluctuations.

Id love 2 more years of a Democratic supermajority...

Hell, we got Healthcare after an 80 year battle for it and ended the combat operations in an unjust and inhumane war... Who knows what two more years would bring us.

Explain the Health Care Bill and how it benefits you and I. ... I mean you are championing it here so you must know something about it. Also, you are a lawyer...or so you say.. explain to me how it is Constitutionally correct for my Govt to mandate buying an Insurance Product on my being....

I think otherwise, Because of the Mandate to purchase Insurance, I dont believe this bill passes Constitutional muster and I also think it allows the Govt arms to be stretched to far into Private Business.

The bottom line is this: The Obama healthcare law requires Americans to buy health insurance starting in 2014 or pay a penalty to the government. The penalty is the higher of a fine of $695.00 or 2.5 percent of your income. If your income is $50,000 and you don’t buy the required “minimum essential coverage,” your 2014 income tax bill will increase by $1,250.00

WHAT strong recovery? No ONE is predicting a strong recovery in the next two years. NO ONE.

While the economy has stabilized to a degree, it is still on shaky ground and it won't take much to send us back over the edge.

Foreclosures are still high and increasing.

Unemployment is still high and not expected to drop under 8% in the next 18 months (at least).

Credit is still way too tight

Banks still have the ability to trade derivatives off books.

Hedge funds are still unregulated.

The EU is still facing the same debt problems.

The pension situation in the US is abysmal.... at best

Many states are still in nightmarish budget dilemmas (see CA, IL, MI etc...)

All those CDO's... they are still out there....

THERE IS A REASON THE FED JUST STATED THEY ARE WILLING TO PUMP MORE LIQUIDITY INTO THE MARKET. It is not because they think we are going to be seeing a strong recovery in the next two years.

Bitch slapped Jarod!

That guy is delusional. He seriously said he doesn't repubs to be able to take credit for some mythical recovery. LOL Not only insane, but childish to boot. What a douchebag.

Jarod is one of the ignorant, sound-bite liberals. He not only fails to understand why the health bill simply gave insurance companies the green light to rape the public, he doesn't even understand the details of the bill

We are looking at a strong recovery in the next two years, mostly due to legislation passed in the last two years.

We have come from the brink of disaster to a much more stable footing, and now are poised to return to a robust and strongly growing economy....

If the Republicans are in control of Congress, even is nothing is passed, they will move to take credit.

We are in a far more precarious position than we were two years ago.

Here is why you don't want R's to control Congress... You are a half-witted Liberal Democrat HACK! You are just barely smart enough to know (from experience) that when R's get in control, they will immediately implement policies that will boost the economy, and you want to be able to say that it was all the result of Obama policies. So you are setting the stage for that now, by claiming this is what you fear will happen.

But fear not my little pinhead, the TEA Party will probably ensure Nancy won't have to give up her beloved gavel, and the Tan Man will probably not be presiding over the Senate... of course, it won't be Harry Reid either, as he is probably going down to Sharron Angle, but it will probably still be a Democrat. Yes, the Dems will get to take all the credit for the next two years of above 9% unemployment, no real private sector jobs creations, and continued economic stagnation, as inflation begins to make its way to the marketplace.

Your can always escape the penalty by not witholding, actually.

Sorry for posting this quote Buffett quote twice but I thought it interesting in like of Jarod's take. Now just because he is so successful in business does not mean everything Buffett says is accurate or some "average joe" has to be wrong if Buffett thinks differently. With that here are his comments from CNBC. Me also thinks Jarod can't actually see the current state of the economy because he views it through to much of a political perspective.

"I think we're in a recession until real per capita GDP gets back up to where it was before. That is not the way the National Bureau of Economic Research measures it. But I will tell you that to any, on any common sense definition, the average American is below where he was before, or his family, in terms of real income, GDP. We're still in a recession. And, and we're not gonna be out of it for awhile, but we will get out of it."
