WHY IS ILLINOIS SUCH A SOLID BLUE STATE ?

Can some American guy who understand's US politics answer a question for me? I tried to find the answer on the internet, but I wasn't satisfied with the explanations I found.

What I want to know is why Illinois is such a solidly "Blue" sTate, when it is (literally) surrounded by "Red" states in the Mid-West. (Illinois has been solid "Blue" four the last 5 Presidential elections)

There must be some reason ?

The US used to be full of family farms and unions that voted working class. North Dakota still has a state bank in a socialist fashion to avoid federal control. Here is the presidential election map from 1932.

Well Rockford were I was forged was very solidly conservative and Republican but now is mostly democrat as it has decayed. The jobs moved out and the drugs moved in and it became democratic...all of which is connected.

It used to be that Chicago was D, the suburbs were mixed, and the rest of the state was R. Now when you look at the suburbs what was red and blue is now pink and blue, that plus Rockford and maybe some other places going blue allows the heavy population of Chicago to swamp the state.


One last thing that I am less sure about: I left in 1986 but up till then there was a constant political war between Chicago area and the rest of the state....I think Chicago won and it is blue....the democrats run the state.....those who want gravy handouts tend to go D. Yes the Gov can change parties but the state house and the senate are 2/3 D.....they can do just about whatever they want.

Answer: Corruption, Anti-White-Racism, Ebonics(urban Black ignorance), and Off-Shoring-Auto-Industry Rust and Despair.


Allot of the State's problems are simply Black Supremacy.

I remember back in the 80's Chicago blacks being stunningly abusive and ignorant, and how nobody who was better, who knew better, could or would do anything about it.

Some Democrats, particularly LBJ, used and abused their ignorance to make them dependent Vote-Slaves.

LBJ was one of America's most Anti-black-Racist and manipulative political figures. Allot of the insanity we are seeing today, comes from the Evils of LBJ.

Obama was far worse for the nation than LBJ, because he was more subtle in his Racism and Manipulation.

The Democratic Party has many crimes-against-America to atone for.

I am not a long term registered Democrat in my state because I think they are a better political party, they are NOT.

I am a Registered Democrat, because I need a job. My State's corruption is all controlling.

Additionally, I am a Democrat because the GOP often doesn't even run an opposition candidate for many offices, so whoever wins the primary, holds the office. Being a Democrat gives me the opportunity to get inside info on the Dem-Primary Candidates, so I can pick the least destructive of the people who will sit in local offices. I vote in the Primary for the lesser of evils.

Hence I have seen how the Democratic Party Sausage is Made... and it is VERY Ugly.

The states around north Illinois are battleground states. The states around south Illinois are red states. North Illinois is more solidly blue than the states around it because it has Chicago, and the Chicago suburbs, which are more Democratic. South Illinois is actually quite red, but it really does not matter because it is under populated compared to north Illinois.

Southern Illinois can get quite red neck, but there are so few of them it does not matter.
