My guess is because Putin’s summer offensive will be over by then and Putin can easily say “Yeah, ceasefire” while he rearms and retrains for Spring. Trump gets to take another shot at a Peace Prize and it costs Putin nothing.

Putin will simply come to the table in 49 days, and trump will then claim it is Zelenskyy who is standing in the way of a peace agreement.

Capturing the rest of the Donbass region is within Putin's grasp, and summertime is the primary season for offensive military operations.
There's no other reason to delay aiding Ukraine for nearly two months. Putin has ramped up the violence and brutality of his war since Trump won the election, and Trump even admitted that Putin told him to his face Russia is not going to hold back or change it's goals.

Putin has had 6 months of trump putting his thumb on the scale. That's what trump does. Break something, and then brag about fixing it.
If trump hadn't stopped intel sharing with Ukraine, and stopped arms shipments, Putin would be on his knees by now.

We already know that Trump's redlines and deadlines for Putin are empty threats.

About three months ago Trump said he was giving Putin two weeks before enacting another round of massive sanctions. It never happened.
