Many Democrats do not want Mamdani to win, and have not endorsed him.
I've seen some on the right mention Mamdani when "rhetoric" is brought up. As though a single candidate for mayor in one American city - who no one heard of until this past year - justifies YEARS of characterizing Dems as socialists, Marxists, communists, et al. And that doesn't even cover "vermin," "the enemy within," "scum," "evil," "DemonRats," et al.
I've been reading a lot of comments sections on youtube videos. The ones I watch from conservatives have countless comments like the one I'm about to paraphrase: "All of the hateful rhetoric comes from these vile, evil Marxist DemonRats!" And if you can't see the irony in a comment like that, there isn't much I can do.
We're in a time when self-awareness is on holiday, and cognitive dissonance reigns.
