We've been going to the islands for twenty yrs. now , mostly Kauai and Big Island. Kauai, specifically Poipu area has changed the most and about the only difference I see on the B.I. is the resorts being built up more but they're far apart enough you don't notice any increase in density. I apologise for the length of this post, I just got carried away with the issue because I loathe the politics of the hard left that the Democratic party have increasingly embraced in America since the 1960's. In my view they have now gone beyond the pale of rational discourse and are promoting policies of hare-brained, leftist extremism that mainstream America will emphatically reject at the November Presidential election this year.
I don't know about you, but I've been having a ball over the past few months watching the Democratic Party cannibalise itself at every turn ! I'm not a hateful person, and I tried to summon up some pity for the carnage - but I just couldn't. Let's look at some of the high - profile Democrat candidates I'm referring to.

JOE BIDEN
I mean, I would be able to feel some genuine compassion for Joe Biden who is afflicted with dementia- (or whatever medical form of cognitive decline it is that ails him) - if he wasn't such a profoundly corrupt politician (for those who are unaware, Joe Biden's history of corruption is not limited to recent scandals in the Ukraine and China, it stretches back over 30 years and has made him and his family VERY wealthy people). And also if he wasn't such a crude, shallow. self-righteous, fondler and sniffer of the scalp pheremones in peoples' children, I might feel inclined to be a little more charitable.(Apparently, he has also, inthe 1990's, poked one of his fingers into a Ms Tara Reade's (one of his former female staffers)... ermm ... "Holey of Holies" without her consent.
I don't doubt it, and so I feel little sympathy for him).
Biden's dementia only serves to further unmask his ugly nature. I think in the Democratic Presidential debates, the organisers placed him next to Bernard "Che" Sanders mostly to ensure that he didn't scuttle over and sniff Amy Klobacar's hair, or insert an errant digit somewhere it was not welcome.

No promises were on offer, no policy arguments, just "Do Me a Favour - Vote for Me". When the crowd cheers to see 70-year-old Grandmother Warren kick your butt big time, then it's time to realise that maybe the national stage is not for you.
These are the best the Democrats had to offer the American people. Their creme de la creme Their vision of the future. The longtime Democrat political strategist and mastermind of Bill Clinton's 1992 election; the man who came up with the famous political epithet: "It's the economy, stupid" was James Carville (nicknamed "the Ragin Cajun"). Carville recently told MSNBC that he believes the Democrats have gone off the liberal deep-end. "We are talking about not having a border, allowing jailed convicts to vote and policies on healthcare (among other things) that simply lack the support of the majority of this country," he said. "Do we want to be an ideological cult or do we want to have a majoritarian instinct to be a major party ?"
When Carville says that the Democrats have gone off the liberal deep-end, I think he is referring the the party's swing to the extreme left. The terms leftist, liberal and progressive are currently used pretty much interchangeably. So it's worth clarifying what left/leftist mean. In America, what distinguished leftists from liberal, progressives (and conservative) is that they are commited toRADICAL EQUALITY. They are more likely to look abroad to socialist or socialistic alternatives to the political and economic models used in America.
American leftists, whether they are Democrat members of Congress or members of organisations like the Democratic Socialists of America (DSU) are dangerous fools. Firstly, because the arrogantly and brusquely ignore the advice of credentialed experts who define the limits of change, and secondly because the are quite willing to challenge the entrenched norms of fair play in order to attempt to forge their delusional egalitatarian society.
When someone like Jimmy Carville says that he no longer has any interest in being part of a political party that's become an extremist cult (of leftists) , you know the Democrats are in serious trouble.
And if you think what Carville says is merely "one man's opinion" and find yourself skeptical with respect to his claim that most of the Democratic party have now transitioned, ideologically, to the extreme left, there is reputable, research evidence to support what he says from the "The Pew Institute." in the form of a report entitled: "The Partisan Divide on Political Values Grows even Wider" This Pew report shows how the Democratic Party has moved sharply to the extreme left. It notes that it would be easy to conclude that the partisan divide on political values between the Republicans and Democrats is the result of the Democrats having become more extreme in their views. After all, we all know that the GOP is the party of white nationalists/supremacists, racists, sexists, xenophobes, Alt-Right nut-jobs and Neo-Nazi hate groups, we hear this over and over and over again; while the Democrats are humble centrists. Right? Because that is the political propaganda the fake news media (CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, etc) disseminate in their role as arms of the Democratic party. But the Pew report makes it very clear that the ideological shift that has taken place is a shift to the extreme left within the Democratic party. The Republican party has not undergone any substantial movement to the ideological Right over recent years.
On a more positive note, a fearsome reckoning is fast approaching for the Democratic party. It has become a party over-run with dreamers of the socialist dream, a party full of pseudointellectual, leftist utopists. But its hippi mafia are about to come face-to-face with rock hard reality. On the 3rd of November this year it will burst in and gun them all down, they will all be smashed "like guitars." But eventually they will regroup and mainstream America can never be complacent. A left-dominated Democratic party is an insidious and powerful enemy, it is driven by persons who are quite literally crazy, people who will do ANYTHING to seize power. These people are sick and despise EVERYTHINGAmerica stands for, they are obsessed with totally destroying it. I'll leave you with an example of what I'm talking about...

In recent years, uber-leftist, Democrat Governors: Jerry "Moonshine" Brown and now, Gary Newsome, have held the levers of power, and California - once known as "The Golden State" is now better described as a Third World shit-hole (President Trump agrees).Under Brown and Newsome, the radical left were able to dominate the state's institutions and California now shows all of the hallmark political, social and economic pathologies of a failing socialist country : sub-standard schools; rising crime (violent and property); chronic traffic congestion, skyrocketing costs of housing, energy and water; rampant homelessness; oppressive regulations; a high rate of unemployment and welfare dependency; the highest poverty rate in the US and a population now fleeing the chaos and headed for other states.
I get really angry when I read about how hare-brained leftist Democrats have trashed California. I have not been to California myself but I have read a lot about it and watched lots of documentaries, so I know that it is not only the largest state in the US, but also a state of outstanding natural beauty. It has a sunny climate and in the southern California there are great beaches with surf that is ideal for surf-board riding and lots of pretty girls. I feel as though I understand just what California was like because I live in an Australian town that is only 15 minutes drive from the east coast of the continent. The coast I'm talking about is on about the same latitude as California; the sub-tropical sun shines the whole year round and the surf beaches are world famous: Noosa, The Sunshine Coast, The Gold Coast and so on.
When I was young, my mates and I would strap our surfboards to the roofs of our cars and spend almost every weekend surfing and hanging out on the beaches and in the local cafes and bars. That was in the 1970's, but the coast and its hinterland were still very much the same as they were in the 1960's. "The Beach Boys" were one of our favourite bands, their music projected a worldview of Southern California in the 1960's that resonated very strongly with us. It wasn't just the mixture of sun, surf, hot-rods, warm breezes good friends and good times, beautiful girls in their music but the way it captured the ethos and spirit of the surfing community and the beautiful natural landscape they lived in that rang so true for us. It was "Fun, Fun, Fun" - big time !Because it's "personal" In LA, there is a swanky district called Venice Beach, which had a beautiful surf beach, but now local parents can't take their kids onto it because the sand is full of hundreds of used heroin. syringes and swimming is out of the question because the water is full of human turds.
That's socialism in action. I know if that ever looked like happening here the politicians responsible would be lynched.
As well as "The Beach Boys" we enjoyed lots of other Americana from the 1960's. And I have fond memories of sitting down to watch "The Beverly Hillbillies every afternoon after school. I was just thinking that these days even Jed Clampet would not be convinced that "Californy is the place he oughta be." He would have the sense to take his money to Texas where the taxes are reasonable and you wont be flash-mobbed by SJWs chanting you're an eco-criminal for striking it rich in the energy sector.
