My apologies, I could have tied that together better. I simply had a knee-jerk reaction to his mention of taxes. As to the exact topic "Why the lower classes are the real job creators", (Hanauer called them consumers, BTW. Calling them "the lower classes" seems to me a little.....well....low class), I think it comes down to what came first, the chicken or the egg. And he said it himself, capitalists don't hire anyone except as a last resort. I take that to mean that the consumer doesn't hire ANYONE. He laments the passing of the late, great middle class, but he is a capitalist, he starts businesses, and invests in others. I don't think he actually RUNS all the businesses he starts. Do you think he says to people that come to him for capital, "okay, I'll capitalize your start up, but we have to save the middle class, so you have to hire a bunch of people to sit around on their asses and collect a middle class salary. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go write a check to the IRS for over and above the taxes I owe, because the government is really, really good at not wasting my money". This guy is a hypocrite.
