I wasn't suggesting just grabbing the troops overseas and dumping them in LA. My point is the waste of money spent on troops overseas when they could be here, trained in rescue operations, ready to go. The best citizens are sent out of the country; the strongest, the most disciplined, the most capable. People's tax dollars spent on resources used to benefit foreign countries instead of being used to benefit the people who pay those taxes.

There are people who want to start wars and place additional troops in foreign countries. More tax dollars wasted. More of the best citizens exported. If rough times are ahead (economic, natural disasters, climate change) those are the citizens who are needed at home.

Rescuing people in LA is not going into combat.

My point is some of the military personnel should be used here. Stationed here. Ready to help here. I'm not suggesting the government go to Afghanistan and have the troops exchange their combat fatigues for bathing suits and droppped in LA. However, they could have brought some home and trained them to assist in the ensuing months even if it just involved clean-up.
