. . . prosecuted?

I think the DOJ, including Sessions and Rosenstein, have come to the conclusion that Trump when he leaves office must be prosecuted.

I think not.

In any case, I just want to see him be a part of nightmare of the past.

I want him gone.

I do not want him prosecuted for any crimes he may have committed so far..for any he committed beffoe winning the presidency...or for any committed so far during his official duties.

When he leaves office, I think he should be given the opportunity to set things straight with the IRS...by amended tax returns and a hefty fine.

So, let's get this straight: even if he committed serious crimes either before his time in office or after his election, you don't want to see him prosecuted?

You want to give him a Mulligan and let him settle up with the IRS?

Am I reading you right?

You are reading me 5 x 5.

I never want to see a president or ex-president or major party candidate for the presidency sent to prison. If it ever happens, especially in the case of the abomination, Donald Trump...my opinion is that it will mean the end of our republic.

Wow. That's an odd take on it.

If it happened (him going to jail), I'd say it's proof that out republic's functioning as designed.

Trump is trying to end our Republic, I believe, Frank Apisa.

I take what you are saying is that the punishment that could administered to Trump would be too much for the Constitution to handle within the framework of current American law.

Maybe so.

Okay...but I disagree.

Banana republics imprison their ex-presidents..and other contenders for office.

If he is guilty of some crimes...he'd be getting away with serious shit.

I'd just rather HIM get away with that kind of thing...than set a precedent that would be of immeasurable harm.

Yeah...it is the precedent thing, Jimmy. It is just not worth it.

If he continued to commit crimes...I would probably step away from my position.

A. So do Constitutional Republics that adhere to the rule of law.
B. There is no harm in adhering to the rule of law to any rational adult.

Trump would resign before facing charges. He is no hero. He will ride it until the road gets too bumpy. The Russian meeting has been a series of lies. There was no meeting. Then there was. Then it was about adoption. Then it wasn't. Donald knew nothing about it. Now we know he wrote the response message. Now it isn't a crime. but connspiracy is a crime. Lying to congress is a crime. He is back to anyone would take such a meeting. Not true. It is a violation of the emoluments clause. it is a big bundle of Trump falmily lies.

Please explain that. I want nothing more than to see this bullying blustering low-class criminal be forced to spend months or years in prison among the class of ppl he's looked down on all his life. If he's convicted of criminal activity, in the famous words of somebody famous -- "Hasta la vista, MFer."

I'm not sure that Frank thinks of Toxic as a "friend," although he's generally polite to the needy attention whore and doesn't say a lot about her nagging and scolding.

I am not sure I agree 100 percent, but I know the point you are making.
I believe Gerald Ford made the same calculation in pardoning the noted criminal, Richard Nixon.

In my opinion, having Trump rot in jail doesn't really address the core problem.
Even though Trump got blown out in the popular vote, the world was shocked that America - at least a lot of them - could vote for a clearly dangerously incompetent, arrogant, vile, petulant, uninformed, authoritarian, xenophobe like Donald Trump. That says more about America than it does about Donald Trump. And whatever flaws I think this nation had, I never imagined we would elect a racist, dangerously xenophobic, militaristic swine. I takes America's stature down more than the election of George Dumbya Bush did.

What really should have happened is that America should have overwhelmingly rejected racism, xenophobia, and the reactionary forces of the rightwing at the polls on election day But in a democratic republic, we get another shot to redeem ourselves.

Ideally, Trumpism will be humiliated on the next election, and the one after than in 2020. That would redeem ourselves as Americans, as the purported defenders of liberal democracy. And I think redeeming ourselves is - in some respects - more important than having Trump rot in jail (which will never happen).
The more likely possibility is that , his poll numbers will become so low, and his crimes so obvious, that he would be pressured to resign by Republicans in the way that Tricky Dick was.

To me, it is all about redemption for us as Americans - which to me outweighs the pleasure of seeing Trump frog marched out of the oval office.
