Will you accept Chinese economic hegemony?

They seem to be winning the 'Technology War'. (which will determine the Future)

I was listening to a Professor in Singapore giving a lecture & he said there is no war, China is way a head & would remain so.

He went on to say essentially they are so far ahead that saying China is stealing is ludicrous because the US/western tech is already behind what they are doing...

I don't necessarily agree w/ that but I do think he made a good point about the advancements in CHina..

Well there may have been 10-15 years ago, I don't think the choices left are ones most Americans want..

(There may be others, variants of the two, but if there are more, viable alternatives I would certainly like to hear them)

1.) Is to simply acquiesce and perhaps even participate, do what is in the best interest of the American consumers.

2.) Resist what everyone is calling the Chinese Century &/or actively subvert/sabotage~ up to & including hostile military operations in opposition.

3.) ?

They have Central Planning and a Vision. They are on a Mission.

They have Central Planning and a Vision. They are on a Mission.

They have 68 countries signed up & on board.....

Our leader is calling another world leader nasty..:palm:

He has no plan, he can't even get a wall built & Mexico was even paying for it.........:rofl2: ............:(

They are building bridges everywhere, including to our allies, while we are burning bridges to them..... I DON'T SEE HOW THAT MAKES AMERICA GREAT AGAIN..

seems fairly simple........they have half the people in the world..........as their per capita spending increases they will be the dominant consumers........

:hand: Agreed, it worked out for some, while others where just copied & dumped.. (copying having a different meaning there)

In the past I thought the same, that perhaps we could make some changes but I now know that isn't an option (@ least that I can see coming about).....

Our systems are not to variants of capitalism, in fact, they say they are not capitalist. @ least not in the sense we traditionally understand in the west, & I believe they are correct.

Hierarchically structured differently~ in the Chinese system the party is over all, PERIOD.. Then you have the business classes (government/hybrid/private) & corporations subservient to them, & then you have the ppl..

In the USA you have the rich/corporations, then the government & then the ppl.......

THoughts???

Bill: "Our systems are not to variants of capitalism, in fact, they say they are not capitalist. @ least not in the sense we traditionally understand in the west, & I believe they are correct."
Jack: Their Stock trades on the NYSE and NASDAQ. Baidu and Tencent jump to mind. In my view, they have adopted 'Free Markets' but with a joint ownership of the national government.

My Thoughts?
America should form a 'NASA-like' joint venture with Silicon Valley and the US Government. Combining the unlimited purchasing power of the US Government, the expertise of Corporate America, and all the Brain Power of the R&D Departments of the Nation's Universities. Create a Vision of 'Technical Superiority for Western Democracies'.

America used to do this. NASA and the 'Moon Race' come to mind. The Panama Canal comes to mind. I think it's just recently that a group of Bluntskulls mutter "That's socialism" every time some idea comes up that involves the Government and Industry.

I would agree with the guy in Singapore.

I have to give Trump credit for confronting the Chinese on their Trade practices. At least he made a move.

So is that an agreement w/ the definitions that I gave??

America is certainly capable of doing this, is it willing to do it?? To sacrifice & pay the taxes to pay for it?? Many large American corps insure the laws are written to exempt them from doing so & then blame the politicians when they get called out~kinda expecting a lot from this dysfunctional system??

Yes, & I have......

He got left w/ it, no doubt, but as I said before, they all get left holding a bag of goodies........ & that is no reason for him to cry about it either....

Sadly many of his fans falsely believe he has a fuckin clue of what he is even up against-HE DOES NOT from what I can tell.......

In fact many of his demands are in line w/ the party striving for efficiency.. Example that:trump wants their government out of the businesses, so does the party as they know, as do we, that getting the government out will make them more efficient in the long run........... :|

While he is demanding this he is begging those state run businesses to buy more soy beans etc to help our farmers.:rofl2: that actually is sad:(

Thanks, great article........

I think they probably already have... & in many other tech areas as well..

They can make a knockoff-apple phone for $100 that is better than the phone & camera they knocked off... Not a joke......

Their system, if it can even be called that is wide open (mostly open source) & highly sophisticated from the BOTTOM UP, not like here, the top down....

I don't want to bore you w/ the details, but if you seen it, you would see how we have bottlenecks in our system where theirs is wide open..

Here if you wanna do a start up, as an EXAMPLE: you need to get money- & you going into business will be up to financiers investors etc....

In China you don't need anyone, you can have your product produced for a zillioneth of those costs in the USA & you can make ten or ten thousand & just get your buddies & partners to buy in-that is why they have 24 new superCities & innovation coming out the ying yang (pun intended) because those restrictions that exist here ARE NOT HOLDING THEM BACK IN CHINA...

Jack: I think China is a 'capitalist' country, as much as many other countries are. Saudi is a 'capitalist' country, even though ARAMCO is 100% Government owned. Norway is a 'capitalist' country' even though Statoil is joint owned by the Norwegian Government. My view is that whoever has signed on to the Trade Rules of the WTO has agreed to a 'Market Economy'.

"The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an intergovernmental organization that is concerned with the regulation of international trade between nations. The WTO officially commenced on 1 January 1995 under the Marrakesh Agreement, signed by 123 nations on 15 April 1994, replacing the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), which commenced in 1948. It is the largest international economic organization in the world.[5][6]"

I think there is a 168 members today. (North Korea isn't one of them)

Trump has brought up the 'Trade' issue with China. I support that.
1. The idea that China will give up any 'State/Corporate alliance' is a fantasy. (We're not telling Saudi to give up their State ownership of ARAMCO)
2. I'm clueless on what to do with the 'currency manipulation'.
3. The 'Property Theft' seems like a valid concern. But ... if they bring up the 'Silkworm Analogy', we're fucked. :(
4. The fentanyl complaint is a joke. (Can you say 'Opium War')

It's on the table and out in the open. At least it is an Issue now. ( I hear Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are big supporters)

"The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a global development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in 152 countries and international organizations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.[1][2] "Belt" refers to the overland routes for road and rail transportation, called "the Silk Road Economic Belt"; whereas "road" refers to the sea routes, or the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.[3]"

China has a 'Global Vision' for China, China's form of Government, China's Culture, and the Chinese people.
The US has ... 'Red Team vs. Blue Team' as national entertainment.

It's not looking too good for 'Western Democracies and Their Value System'.

President Trump is "The Chosen One".
To fix America's business dealings
with Communist China!
Better dead then red!

I don't think you have to worry about 'Communism' any more.
I think the problem is the Rise of the 'Authoritarian States'.
These 'One Party States' were 'Free Speech' is NOT tolerated.
Think 'Khashoggi'.
Or the '3 Generation Work Camps' in North Korea.
