Will you explain who, when, why and how America became divided?

I think it was when a group declared themselves the moral majority, but that’s just when I. Priced it first.

Yeah, that was the Evangelicals. They kind of emerged when gays were asking for rights and stuff and the Christians were pretty upset by that. Cost Kerry the election in 2004. But the real crap started when all of the dog whistling the Republicans were doing didn't stop a scary black man from winning the White House. And maybe even a Mooooslim too. And not really a citizen. This is when we became divided. When the Republican party lost touch with reality because Obama was President. I suspect if you asked minorities, they would say it's been divided forever, and from their perspective, that is not wrong.

America was born divided when they combined slave states and free states into a single new country.

It was a stupid idea then, and we can clearly see that it hasn't gotten any better.

You don't have to 'engage' anyone. The OP asks a question. Do you have an opinion, view, thought, notion you care to express? (I tossed in my 2 cents worth)

The question should show that it doesn't matter. There is no "next generation" to turn to and lament the passing of the nation. And even if there was, what good would it do to ask these things?

The wealthy and powerful have set the middle class and poor against each other with great success. The wealth of America has been siphoned off for a long, long time by the thin layer of super-rich. They have been successful in making the masses think their disappearing wealth is taken by the poor or "others. It is going straight to the top and the wealth gap is worse than it was during the Gilded Age. This board is full of people preaching hate for people who are essentially just like them, suffering in quiet fears and mounting desperation as their wealth erodes and their lives get scarier and more insecure.
