The veteran patrolmen who opened fire on the suit-clad gunman, Jeffrey Johnson, had only an instant to react when he whirled around and pointed a .45-caliber pistol at them as they approached from behind on a busy sidewalk...

We pay the police to be trained to handle these situations. They are supposed to be pros. These cops suck ass. There is no excuse for 9 bystanders getting shot. Only boot-lickers would excuse these sub-par heros in blue

Trying to equate the time it takes to move to the side and compare it to how long it takes to fire 8 or 9 shots, is an honest comparison.

WB is convinced he would have done a better job than the cops caught up in this tragedy. The rightwing blogosphere is crammed with similar posturing from Monday-morning quarterbacks.

I'm reminded of what Teddy Roosevelt said:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

But legion that's what the internet and modern media are for. We go over every piece of people's past and find out where they screwed up then post it everywhere until we find another mistake. Evidence: The entire Gaff industry.

Since you have all the answers and feel that you are better then the Police, why don't you run for Police Chief, clean up all the "cooruption" in your area; then you can run for Sheriff and clean up your county. Because you sure do a lot of bitching and moaning, without putting anything out there.

It is also not an honest comparison to look at how long it takes to fire 8 rounds when the point I have been making is that the cops sucked at what they did. Sure, you can empty a .45 in a few seconds, if you are not aiming but simply spraying bullets. Which proves my point.

How long what, exactly? How long to fire 7 rounds or 9 rounds? How long to fire those rounds just spraying or aiming?

Oh, and according to CNN, 3 of the bystanders were struck by direct fire. You know, not a ricochet.
