Wow...

This is hysterical. If I had only known this thread was going to get so wild, I would have smoked a joint as soon as it was posted so I could really go with it.

My Question: "Do you feel that only black people can become upset over racism?"

Your answer in the now infamous Post Number 18 you keep telling me to re-read:

"Absolutely not.....I understand that ANYONE can become a racist.....
and I understand that SOME may have a very valid reason to become racist....white or black

I don't condone it...but I sympathize with those that reach that point....some might have experienced something that caused it....its not their fault .... it s the fault of human nature....."

As I stated, I asked you if you believed only black people could get upset over racism, and you said that no, anyone can be racist. You did not answer the question I asked, and I have to wonder; you didn't by any chance light up yourself did you?

Anyway, I'll consider myself "pwned". LOL

What bugs me about this is that the left did NOT have this reaction to Jesse Jackson saying he felt relieved when he was walking down the street and heard someone behind him and it was not a black male. Somehow it was ok for Jesse to say this, but not ok for Juan to give voice to very much the same attitude. Jesse was not given the same "look down your nose" attitude that much of the left has been showing toward Juan Williams.

Juan Williams is a Fox News contributor.

That's all it takes to be run out on a rail.

End of story.

Yeah - enough of that PC garbage. Let your bigot flag fly!
Man....your reading comprehension is lacking in the fuckin' extreme if thats what you got out of that exchange of posts.....and I can't help that at all....

You'd have to have an attention span of at least 5/10 minutes to grasp internet threads that take some time to appear on your screen....

Oh, the irony...

I actually don't remember that. I do remember him calling NYC "hymie town."

I wasn't down w/ that one...

Found it. Not EXACTLY what I said:

“There is nothing more painful for me at this stage in my life,” Jesse Jackson said several years ago, “than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery—and then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.” Jackson now says his quotation was “taken out of context.” The context, he said, is that violence is the inevitable byproduct of poor education and health care. http://www.nytimes.com/1999/06/20/magazine/the-color-of-suspicion.html?pagewanted=5

Juan Williams quote is no worse than that. And I don't care what he said in hindsight the context was, he made the statement on the fly and it plays into the same stereotype as Williams statement.

First, if Jesse Jackson was an NPR employee when he made that comment and NPR didn't can him, then the two situations would be comparable, but he wasn't.

Second, it was clear from the context that when Jesse Jackson said that, he was not saying that he felt that he was correct in feeling that way, but that he was ashamed of it. With Juan Williams, it's fairly clear from his initial comments (and what he's said since) that he thinks his prejudice is correct. That ain't the case with Jesse.

Just another example of lefties letting Jesse Jackson get away with whatever he wants to get away with. Cause there was no blowback over that.

That's an interesting quote. Just goes to show you the difference in perspectives, not just between races, but between genders.

If I'm walking down the street (assuming dark, etc.) and I hear footsteps, I am never relieved if it's someone who is white.

I am relieved if it's a woman. Of any color.

Madone!

No, it doesn't. Because I didn't ask you if anyone can be racist!

I asked you if only black people can be upset by racism!

And while I completely understand why you feel that way, it unfairly paints men in the same light as Williams did Muslims and Jackson did blacks. What it shows to me, is not that you are anti-man, or a man hater, but you have a healthy sense of your own personal safety. So to, I think do Jackson and Williams.

In general, I didn't mind Juan's personal anecdote that much; it was his agreement with O'Reilly's position that sucked....

Unfortunately I think you are right.

Juan Williams has been a FOXNews contributor for several years now and Mara Liasson is still a FOXNews contributor and NPR news analyst.

He's a reporter. He's supposed to maintain objectivity. He hasn't done that.

So.....If not a women...you would get nervous.....Kinda a like Juan.....
For you, its gender on a dark street....for Juan, its Religious identity on a airplane.........

Sexist/Racist ??????

are you serious? so no other npr reporter has ever given their opinion? they have all remained totally and completely objective?

He said he agreed with O'Reilly and, in context, basically said he's afraid of Muslims and rightly so. Jesse at least said he was ashamed of it. Juan isn't ashamed at all and thinks he is right to be nervous of Muslims when flying.

do you realize how liberal juan leans on many issues? what do you think about national PUBLIC radio? is this state radio? if not...why not? only due to funding? why then are they are national public radio?

Well, I'm really sorry if my expanded answer threw you for a loop...I'm more accustomed to conversing with adults that can handle it........
I'll be more careful in the future.
