No, it doesn't. The personal computer industry, which is the heart of automation today, employs hundreds of thousands of people. It didn't exist before 1975.
Someone has to built the automation equipment. Someone has to maintain it. Someone has to design it. These are teams of people doing this.
If you would rather make buggy whips all day long the old fashioned way, good luck. There's not a lot of call for 'em.
If you would rather make houses out of logs you created cutting down your own trees and adzing them and lifting them into position, go knock yourself out. There's not a lot of call for log cabins today.
Most construction workers use lumber that is milled with automation, nails made with automation, and roofs shingled with asphalt or cedar shingles made with automation, and using nail guns instead of hammers to build the house faster. Even the saw they often use is rather automated, being a miter saw on a stand with adjustable bosses so you can cut repetitive cuts of wood.
I've automated my home. I have a washer and dryer, built by people in companies like Maytag, a dishwasher built by another company, computers I've built myself using components from companies around the world, installed the Alexa control system built by Amazon, which employs thousands to make it work, and can run it all on a handy cellphone or voice command from my car, all built by other companies.
ALL of these companies wouldn't exist without these products. In many cases, that's all they produce. They each employ many workers to build these products.
