Yeah, that isn't the same Christianity that informs America's love of guns or systematic dehumanization of brown poor people.

Perhaps you are thinking of ALT-America where as a Christian nation they didn't speak LOUDLY AND CLEARLY that they value a liar, cheater, hate-monger rich man who promised to help them demonize poor people. Cuz that's what "Christian America" did.

If someone tells me they believe in something that cannot be proven I tend to take them at their word that their belief is genuine.

But I think the most important thing is that the DECENT Christians are really the ones who have to clean house. The regular Christians who actually seem to CARE about Christ's message of love and peace and acceptance need to tell the AmeriChristians that No, Jesus wouldn't think the answer to school shootings is "more guns". That, No, Jesus WOULDN'T be OK with mass deportations. That NO, Jesus would NOT think it cool to call Mexicans rapists. That NO, Jesus is NOT OK with mocking the disabled. That REAL Jesus doesn't love billionaires more than regular people. In fact he was kinda "down" on billionaires even making it into heav'n.

America is the most religious nation in the developed world. And by and large we identify as "Christian". And AS A GROUP we just elected a man who:

1. Has violated EVERY sacred vow before God he ever took in the many marriage ceremonies he has been through.
2. Has treated a LOT of people VERY, VERY badly: whether it's sexually abusing women in Bergdorfs, grabbing their genitals without permission, stiffing contractors he's hired, lying about his assets so egregiously he has run into trouble with bank regulators, etc.
3. Is busy MAKING A BUCK off the Bible.
4. Falsely claims to be a Christian so he can fleece the suckers
5. Thinks Christian voters are suckers to be fleeced.
6. WORSHIPS money.

Basically: EVERY SINGLE THING about him is antithetical to Christianity. Yet he had the FULL SUPPORT of the Evangelical voting bloc.

Either Christianity has a VALUE to humanity or it has no meaning and can be leveraged by people who clearly despise its message. If it is the latter then it has no value.

You would be better off looking at their actions rather than listening to their words. There is a reason for the old adage "Actions speak louder than words".

If Christians voted for Trump it was because he lied to them.

If they thought he was the best choice on the ballot, then they certainly should have cast their vote for him.
