As for cell phone bans, there are many for when driving, yet they don't ban eating or playing with the radio while driving even though those cause more accidents. Why? So, you admit you were lying when you said Liberal Dems have been trying to ban cell phones & Wal-Mart?

We all know how dishonest you are, but I have to say, it's nice to hear you being so forthright & 'fessing up to your lies, at least in this instance....

If you regulate to the point of where they can't do business (because their competitors don't have the same disadvantages) then it ends up being a de facto ban.


Anyway here we go, San Diego bans Walmart and it PASSED:
"The City Council here voted late Tuesday to ban certain giant retail stores, dealing a blow to Wal-Mart's potential to expand in the nation's eighth-largest city.
The measure, approved on a 5-3 vote, prohibits stores of more than 90,000 square feet that use 10% of space to sell groceries and other merchandise that is not subject to sales tax. It takes aim at Wal-Mart (WMT) Supercenter stores, which average 185,000 square feet and sell groceries."

Wal-Mart is prevented from setting up shop in a huge # of areas. It's called "zoning."

That is not "banning Wal-Mart."
 
They banned a category Dano.

Wal mart could still open there if they adjusted their store to meet the requirements.

Looks like they banned stores of more that 90,000 feet that use 10% of the space to sell groceries and other merchandise that is not subject to sales tax, not Wal-Mart.

Dano doesn't understand zoning. Back on FP, he posted some article about it as though he had never heard of it before, and tried to portray it as some wacked out liberal idea for regulating the way people use their own land.

It was very embarassing for him, but pretty funny...

Yeah, the Wal-Mart stores are all pre-fab and come in one size. I've seen them being trucked around with the "Wide Load" banners and all.
