Again, writing the law to require you to appear for a debt consideration then putting you in jail for not appearing is putting you in jail for owing. They allow debtors to draw money from your accounts, etc. then take away your means for making the money you owe...

This is a stupid idea, and most states recognize that.

the jail industry is big business and there are entrenched forces that want to maintain if not increase jail populations

gosh.....to me that sounds like putting you in jail for not appearing.....not to mention that at most it's a two day "sentence" assuming you get picked up on a Friday night and have to wait until Monday morning to see a judge.....

first of all, it's the creditors who draw the money from your accounts, and it's called garnishment......you're opposed to garnishment?.....are you opposed to judgments, too?.....
 
This has been going on for years. Amy Goodman was reporting on this during the Bush years, and possibly earlier than that.

really? if you get a speeding ticket, fail to appear, fail to pay etc.... then a bench warrant is issued...and you happen to get arrested, are you being arrested for the speeding ticket?
