Your Lucky Day

Yes. I get the allusions to greed and violence in society but the part where the husband took the ticket and left his dead wife lying in a pool of blood wasn't credible (to me). Not much nuance in the film.

In its defence, it wasn't supposed to be Cinéma Vérité. I did find the idea that someone could think they could cash in a blood stained lottery ticket a little hard to believe though.

Grind is a hipster douchebag. If you tell him something, and he's heard about it, YOU LOSE. Simple as that.

"But BE WARNED, talking about Indie Music with white people is perhaps the most dangerous subject you touch upon. One false move and you will lose their respect and admiration forever. Here are some general rules

  • Bands that have had their songs in an Apple ad are still marginally acceptable
  • Bands that have had their songs in ads for other companies are not acceptable
  • If you mention a band you like and the other person has heard of them, you lose. They own you. It is essential that you like the most obscure music possible.

Remember, popular artists can turn unpopular in a heartbeat (Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, The Strokes), so you would be best to stick to the following statements: “I love the Arcade Fire,” “I still think the Montreal scene is the best in the world,” “I would die without Stereogum or Fluxblog“* and “Joanna Newsom is maybe the most original artist today.”"

^ that was the reference.

its just amazing how scary that is true. watermark and I always talk on aim and occasionally watermark will mention some obscure synth pop band i don't know, or he'll name a band I do know, and be throughly owned. We have also legitimately had a convo where we agreed bright eyes isn't that great anymore, and I think we both have talked about how we like arcade fire.

I like pitchfork though.
